Chapter Nine
Nicole moved quickly through the palace. The further they moved from the throne room the wider the corridors became. They passed a large section of living quarters that led to a large courtyard, filled with tall hedges and fountains that featured statues of dancing fairies.
Nicole darted down the center aisle toward a large pillared building with wide steps. Jack struggled to keep pace. “Hey,” he called as she disappeared around the corner of the winding hedge. “Slow down, you’re too reckless. I appreciate your rush to help Mikado, but if we aren’t careful we could slam right into the so-called evil that caused this city to shut down.”
