AHMITY RELAXED INTO his high-backed chair. His eyes sparkled with amusement as Jordan and Missy worked furiously to set up the small cauldron before the living room hearth. Jordan had repaired an old iron tripod he’d found in the shed and placed it over the center of the fire. While he was working, Missy used a small hammer to pound the dents out of the rusty iron pot. They gingerly hung the pot under the tripod and it promptly collapsed into the flames. Ahmity held his tongue and let the twins drag the pot and apparatus from the flames with a poker and begin to reinforce the base. “I told you, Jordan,” Missy lectured, “we should have built an iron circle to hold the pot then added the four legs to hold it over the fire.” Jordan frowned and argued, “It’s too late now.
