THE BILLIONAIRE
Episode 11 — The Man Behind the Shadow
The rain had been falling for hours.
Alexander Blackwood stood alone in his study, staring at the photograph lying on his desk.
It showed him as a twelve-year-old boy.
Beside him stood his father, Richard Blackwood.
Alexander had seen the photograph many times before.
But there was one thing he had never noticed.
A man stood in the background.
A man Alexander believed had died twenty-five years ago.
His father.
Alexander picked up the photograph with trembling hands.
“No…”
Richard Blackwood had supposedly died in a plane crash when Alexander was twelve. There had been an investigation, newspaper reports, and a funeral.
But no body had ever been recovered.
For twenty-five years, Alexander had accepted that his father was dead.
Now he wasn't so sure.
He turned the photograph over.
Four words had been written on the back.
HE NEVER LEFT YOU.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
Unknown number.
Alexander stared at the screen before answering.
“Hello?”
For several seconds, there was silence.
Then a man's voice spoke.
“You should have stopped looking.”
Alexander's eyes narrowed.
“Who are you?”
“You know who I am.”
The call ended.
Alexander immediately called Marcus, his head of security.
“Come to my study. Now.”
A few seconds later, Marcus entered.
He was a former military intelligence officer and one of the only people Alexander completely trusted.
“What happened?”
Alexander handed him the photograph.
Marcus stared at it.
His face changed.
“Where did you get this?”
“Someone left it in my car.”
Marcus looked at Alexander.
“I've seen this photograph before.”
Alexander stood up.
“When?”
“Years ago. I found it inside a secret file while investigating a security breach.”
“Why didn't you tell me?”
“Because the file disappeared.”
Alexander walked toward the window.
“Someone has been hiding the truth from me.”
Before Marcus could answer, a loud sound came from downstairs.
Both men froze.
Marcus immediately reached beneath his jacket.
“What was that?”
“I don't know.”
They moved toward the private elevator.
Marcus pressed the button.
The doors opened.
One of Alexander's security guards was lying unconscious inside.
Marcus checked him.
“He's alive.”
Suddenly, the lights went out.
The entire penthouse became dark.
Alexander heard footsteps.
Someone was walking toward them.
Marcus whispered, “Stay behind me.”
The footsteps stopped.
Then a voice came from the darkness.
“Alexander.”
Alexander's heart jumped.
He knew that voice.
“Dad?”
A shadow appeared at the end of the hallway.
Alexander stepped forward.
“Richard?”
The figure turned and ran through a side door.
Alexander chased him.
Marcus followed.
They entered the library.
The windows were open, and rain was blowing inside.
The man was gone.
But something was lying on the floor.
A small metal box.
Alexander picked it up.
His name was engraved on it.
ALEXANDER RICHARD BLACKWOOD.
Inside was an old key and a note.
Alexander unfolded it.
THE TRUTH IS BURIED WHERE YOUR FATHER DIED.
Marcus read it.
“The island.”
Alexander nodded.
“Blackwood Island.”
Marcus looked worried.
“That place has been abandoned for twenty-five years.”
“Then it's time I went back.”
---
Two hours later, Alexander's helicopter landed on Blackwood Island.
The old Blackwood mansion stood on a hill overlooking the sea.
It looked exactly as Alexander remembered it.
Broken windows.
Overgrown gardens.
Dark corridors.
Alexander walked through the front doors.
Memories returned.
He remembered being a child.
He remembered his father's voice.
He remembered the last conversation they had before the plane crash.
“If anything happens to me,” Richard had told him, “never trust the people closest to you.”
Alexander had forgotten those words.
Now he understood why they mattered.
They entered Richard's old study.
Alexander used the key from the metal box.
The door opened.
Inside, everything was covered with dust.
Marcus searched the room while Alexander examined the desk.
Suddenly, Marcus called him.
“Alexander. Look at this.”
A hidden compartment had opened behind a bookshelf.
Inside were dozens of documents.
Alexander pulled out one file.
It contained names of powerful businessmen, politicians, bankers, and government officials.
Marcus looked through another file.
“This looks like an organization.”
Alexander found another document.
Then he stopped.
His own name was written across the top.
PROJECT ALEXANDER.
His face became pale.
“What is this?”
Marcus opened the file.
Inside were medical records and photographs of Alexander when he was twelve.
“These were taken shortly before the plane crash,” Marcus said.
“Why?”
“I don't know.”
Before they could continue, footsteps echoed downstairs.
Someone else was inside the mansion.
Marcus quickly pulled Alexander toward a hidden passage.
They entered a dark tunnel beneath the study.
The tunnel led to a large underground room.
To Alexander's shock, computers and monitors filled the room.
Some of them were still operating.
Marcus looked at the equipment.
“Someone has been here recently.”
Suddenly, one of the monitors turned on.
Alexander stopped.
A video appeared.
Richard Blackwood was sitting behind a desk.
Alexander stared at the screen.
His father looked older, but there was no doubt.
It was him.
“If you're watching this,” Richard said, “then you've finally discovered the truth.”
Alexander stepped closer.
Richard continued.
“I need you to understand something. The people around me were not ordinary businessmen. They controlled banks, companies, politicians, and governments.”
The screen changed.
Several men appeared around a table.
Alexander recognized one of them immediately.
Daniel Cross.
His current business partner.
Alexander's eyes widened.
“No…”
Richard continued.
“Daniel betrayed me.”
Alexander clenched his fists.
“He helped arrange the crash.”
Marcus looked at Alexander.
But Richard wasn't finished.
“There is something else you must know.”
The screen changed again.
A photograph appeared.
Alexander's mother.
Beneath the photograph were the words:
SHE KNOWS EVERYTHING.
Alexander stared.
His mother had supposedly died when he was nineteen.
Richard's voice continued.
“Alexander, your mother may still be alive.”
Alexander stepped backward.
“That isn't possible.”
The video ended.
The screen went black.
Then another message appeared.
GO TO THE CHURCH AT MIDNIGHT. COME ALONE.
Marcus immediately shook his head.
“It's a trap.”
Alexander stared at the message.
“Probably.”
“Then you're not going.”
Alexander looked at him.
“I have spent twenty-five years believing my father was dead. Now I'm being told my mother may be alive.”
He picked up the photograph.
“I need answers.”
Marcus sighed.
“Then I'm coming with you.”
Alexander looked toward the dark tunnel.
For the first time in his life, his billions meant nothing.
His enemies knew his secrets.
His business partner might be a traitor.
His father might still be alive.
And his mother might have been hiding somewhere for years.
But the biggest question remained.
Who had been watching Alexander all these years?
Outside, thunder shook the island.
And somewhere in the darkness, a man watched the mansion from a distance.
He smiled.
“The billionaire finally knows the truth.”
Then he disappeared into the rain.
