Chapitre VII: Zander Y. Xavier

Alannah's Point of View :

"What intermission are you talking about?" I asked curiously. I really didn't know what was going on.

"The Middle School Team is assigned to the Events, the Program, while the High School Team is in charge of the venue, the booths." he said seriously.

"And then? Why do we have to make an intermission number? It's your problem if no one does that." I said, brows raised.

"Haha. Of course there is and it is your group." He came closer after saying that and retreated again.

"What if we don't want to?" I said stubbornly.

"Suspension? Hmm too easy. Death? Too cruel, how about expelling?" He was still smiling. s**t! I didn't want to be expelled. I made a promise to her.

"Fine! Just answer this last question. Why should it be explosive and grand?" I asked, giving up. I couldn't do anything.

"As the last performer, should it be right? And to entertain the officials, and faculty, of course. What else? Uhmm and so that the students don't get bored because the last in the program is words from Zach Y. Xavier, so it will be you before him." And he left.

I looked at our gossipy schoolmates, they immediately acted busy after tsk.

We sat next to Luke. How can we do it tomorrow? We haven't even had practice yet. Is he nuts? It's a given.

"You're the only one who dared to come in late." Luke said.

"It's your fault!" I answered angrily.

"What?! How?" Spence.

"Long story, we'll tell you some time." Bri.

"What are we going to do?" said Daph. She asked when we reached the open field.

"Probably fix the area." Alex. He gets elbowed by Spence.

"It's hot my gosh, it's midday and there's not even a single shade." Bri was already sweating.

"Eh, the one your nuts best friend? Why isn't it here? He's cheating!" I asked, annoyed.

"If you only knew, they have the hardest task here, he's running around everywhere for the papers etc, sweaty and tired." Luke answered.

"Eh? It seems like I can do it." I said proudly.

"There's something, it's not just that, we're lucky because only until secretary has a hard task haha." Spence, I forgot they were the Treasurer and Auditor.

The sun is going down a bit. My body is sticky from sweat and heat. Is it because of the size of the open field that we're taking this long?

"Oh, how is life?" Luke asked.

"I don't want to do it anymore." Raven answered tiredly. He's finally here.

"Hahaha I know, haha. The time is still far away though." Luke.

He lay down on the grass, sweating profusely, his hair messy, his clothes in disarray, his face was red and tired. Just like an addict, right?

"Fortunately, William was the one who was given the errands after my last one." He stood up and frowned. I was still looking at him. I just avoided it and continued to place the chairs.

"For those who are late, you can go home, go practice." He said seriously. I turned around, seriously?

"I'm counting on you, don't let me down." He smiled and looked at me before leaving.

"Let's go home." Mary initiated.

"You can do it, he entrusted it to you." Luke said with a smile.

We left and decided to hang out in Mary's crib.

"What songs? Hmm." Daph. Fortunately we are dancers, if only he knew.

"Blackpink is the hottest badass girl group today." Bri.

"Mix boy group songs too. BTS is a big name now too."

"It's a good thing we're a bit of a fan of them haha." Mary. Yeah, she's right.

"Alright let's practice! You sleep here too." Mary said after she finished editing the song.

"Let's show Raven." I said, smiling.

Raven's Point of View :

"We're not going home yet?" Alex said, annoyed.

"Not yet." Spence replied.

"It's already 6:00 p.m." Luke was also annoyed.

We're just sitting here, and yeah it's over, the venue is ready and the program is finalized. Why aren't we going home yet?

"Good evening students. I know you are all tired, and so are we. Tomorrow's event will start from 7:00 p.m.. Be in your formal attire tomorrow. You can now all go home." Mr. Xavier.

The three looked at me, I just smiled at them. I don't know anything. I just programmed the event. They were the ones who set the time, and so on.

We also went home. It's really a tiring day. I'll be one of the MCs tomorrow. I'm going to memorize a lot. Urghhh!

I texted Ms. Amazona, she might wear jeans tomorrow and blame me if she gets scolded. Tss

Be in your formal attire tomorrow. Just bring extra clothes for your performance. Just inform others you were the only ones who weren't here when it was announced.

The four of us are already here at 6:00 o'clock. I was a little nervous for later. And yeah, I don't know, but we wear tuxedos today and most of the girls wear gowns today.

What's the trip of the administration? Don't tell me there's some dancing later? Hmm.

"Have you seen Sir Zach?" Luke asked.

"No." I answered.

"Are you still nervous? Haha." Alex teased.

"I'm not nervous." My excuse.

"The four are already here." We looked back together after Spence said that.

"Hello." Mary.

"Hi." Luke.

"Why are we wearing gowns? The pineapple fiber itches." Lannah complained.

"Ask the admins, are you ready anyway? I hope so." then I left.

I went backstage where security, faculty, admins, and officers gathered. Reminding us about our duties. It will start soon.

"Good Evening students of Zander Y. Xavier University." My introduction.

The program went smoothly. I was a bit bored. This is not even recognition or graduation yet? The teachers here are also different.

Fortunately, the admins prepared food. Most of us haven't had dinner yet.

And yeah, with the number of us here, they were able to afford it. It's good that college isn't there. They always say we're busy, you know, for the future. Then elementary students are said to be too naughty, which is true.

"You guys are next haha." Alex.

"Thanks for reminding me, I'm already nervous." said Daph.

"No beer? Why are there only soft drinks and water on the tables?" Spence.

"Maybe a miracle will happen, you know." Bri answered.

"Tsk your brain bes." Mary.

"Don't eat too much." I reminded the four girls.

"We know." Lannah said calmly.

"Shh." I'm full.

"We're gonna get dressed guys, cheer for us!" said Mary.

"Yes we will!" Luke said.

"And now let us welcome the blinks." Trixia announced.

We sat at the very front facing the stage. Mary told me about their intermission number.

It's K-pop. Pinkblack and bangtan? She said it would be a surprise. I will treat them if the outcome is good. They would be treating me if the performance is bad.

People screamed as soon as they entered. They have this hip-hop badass girl group theme. My eyes caught Lannah looking at me angrily. I also stared at her, hmm let's play.

The music started. Her eyes are locked on mine, isn't she afraid about her performance? And yes, can't deny it, she dances well along with the three.

The music is still playing, I'm deafened by the volume, add more people's shouts and screams to it.

It made me smile, she impressed me. They didn't disappoint me even though it was just my trip. I know they can do it, she wondered. I forgot we were having eye contact.

I kept smiling until they were done dancing. Somehow, the field came alive.

After they changed, they went straight to their seats. They were just behind me with Luke.

I called Mr. Zach Y. Xavier for his words, then I sat down with the seven. Mr. Zach's speech seems to be long.

"Woaah is he really 76 years old? He looks like he's only 50." Lannah said, amazed.

For Pete's sake, she's sitting next to me? I really hate these fools. They really know how to annoy me.

"First and foremost, I thank you all for coming and making this event lively. For the faculty, the admins, teachers, officials, and officers thank you again, and you students, this event is nothing without your efforts." He greeted them. I can tell, you can't really say he's 76 years old.

"I know you're all tired. As a reward, no class tomorrow." The crowd roared.

"Haha, this only happens sometimes, so let's enjoy it, right?" He joked.

"My father, Zander Y. Xavier, the founder of this incredible university, spent his time on books, writing stories he could tell."

"He died because of old age. He was young when he came to the Philippines. He loved the Filipino people, and used his fortune to build a school for them."

"That school became a university, and it gets bigger and bigger as time passes by."

"He lives in a faraway country in Europe. He serves-" He didn't finish what he was going to say because the place suddenly blacked out.

People shouted, even though it's a full moon today, the place is still not that bright, the moon's rays are not enough.

"Mr. Zander Y. Xavier didn't love the Philippines nor the citizens of it, he just came here to hide. He was found here hiding, that's why he was killed." The hairs on my body stood up, his voice was terrifying as if he was going to eat someone.

I was surprised when Lannah held my hand, it was shaking, I could feel her fear. She was like this when we were at the old house.

I looked in front, I could see a tall man with a hood. I focused my sight, his eyes were quite red, and it gives me the chills. Lannah's grip tightened when he laughed.

"Fuck." I cursed when the place suddenly lit up again, and we saw Mr. Zach's dead body.

He is seated on a chair, there is a cut on the left side of his neck, and his blood is dripping from it. I look closer, it doesn't look like a knife is used here.

The most intriguing part is that he is wearing a cross necklace that shines. I can tell that it's pure silver.

"Shit." I'm cursed again, his cross necklace is similar to my necklace.

People shouted, Mr. Xavier was crying as he stood next to Sir Zach's corpse. The others didn't know what to do. Others are dumbfounded.

"I-t's hi-m Ra-ave." I turned in Lannah's direction, damn? What happened to her?

Suddenly she passed out and I caught her. I laid her on my lap. I wiped her wet face.

"Everyone, please stay calm, and stay in your seats! Those who have someone to fetch you, call them now! Security will check each of you before leaving. We will investigate this incident, and don't come tomorrow." Angry and sad saying of Mr. Xavier on the microphone.
