Chapter 7 -- DIANA NOTICES

Rose knocked before entering the office only to see Adien leaning on the table patiently waiting for her, she felt flattered for a second before asking
“Hope you didn’t wait long sir? I came as soon as I was told”
“Its ok—I didn’t wait that long” Adien replied softly
She stood quite far from him nervously while Adien walked close to her. They held each other's gaze for a long moment, as though Adien was trying to confirm something in his mind in his mind.
“Mmm sir is anything the problem? Do I have something on my face?”
“No--- come and sit down” Adien walked towards a couch and sat down tapping the space beside him for rose to sit.
Rose sat down tensed ‘What’s going on? Why is he acting strange?’
“You don’t have to be so tensed around me, I don’t bit. I saw what you did there, that was amazing, thank you”
“You don’t have to thank me sir, I was just doing my job”
“Were you? Anyways I still want to say thank you, you really saved me a lot of stress”
“No problem sir” Rose tried to stand up but Adien held her wrist
“Wait--- have we met before?”
Rose got more tensed “I—I don’t think so” she stuttered
“Are you sure--- for some reason, I just feel ----” just as he was about to continue, Diana entered the room while a staff was trying to stop her but Adien gave her a signal to leave
Adien on seeing Diana, stood up saying “Diana you should have called before coming--- what do you think this place is”
Diana whose gaze has been fixed on rose replied “ I have been calling but your P.A kept telling me nonsense”
‘So she’s the Diana’ Rose also looked at Diana from head to toe before turning to Adien, not even acknowledging Diana
“ If there’s nothing sir, I’ll take my leave”
“No so fast” Diana burst in
“why are you suddenly in a hurry to leave, feeling guilty or intimidated?” Diana said expecting to see fear and receive an apology to calm her ego but unfortunately for her, Rose was already pissed ‘Imaging being in the same room with the other girl that was picked instead of you’
“ How can I feel intimidated by you? And why would I feel guilty? I’m not stealing neither I’m I begging--- I just have a lot of important things to do, unlike someone who’s quite less busy or maybe unemployed”
“you ---you, how dare you talk to me in such manner, who do you think you are?”
“What’s wrong with how I talked, I didn’t call names--- If you feel hurt, then that means you think you’re less busy or unemployed”
Diana was already boiling in anger, she angrily walked towards Rose to slap her but Rose held her hands tightly
“Don’t you even think of it cause I won't take without giving back and you might not be able to handle it” Rose said before flinging Diana’s hand
“You church rat, how dare you treat me like this, Adien----” she suddenly paused when she noticed Adien’s attention was actively on Rose, he didn’t even try to defend her--- he was just smirking while staring intensively at rose like he was enjoying the show
“ADIEN--- you just stand there and watch you staff treat me this way?” she only tried to subtly undermine ROSE in front of ADIEN.
Who knew that ROSE would handle it with such composed, surgical precision that Diana is left standing with nothing, the worst part was that all through it all, ADIEN just watched the whole thing, his attention kept drifting to ROSE. She doesn't know who ROSE is yet — but she just knows she doesn't like it.
“what do you want me to do, punish her when you obviously started it?” Adien finally spoke
“But--- BUT she just said---”
“That’s enough, you shouldn’t have come here without informing me at the first place--- this is a business premises not some fun hub”
“I can't believe you’re taking her side---”
“What’s with you and sides, I’m not taking any side, I’m just telling you the truth” Adien turned towards Rose handing her a document before saying to her softly
“Please I need you to organize this, It's really important --- can it be ready by the end of today?”
“Of course sir --- I’ll take my leave now” Rose left the room after collecting the document
After Rose left the room, Diana quickly walked closer to Adien and held his hand
“Tell me the truth, who is that lady? What’s going on between the both of you? Don’t lie to me”
“You’re being paranoid --- she’s just a staff here, really competent”
“That’s a lie, a mere staff won't talk to me in such manner--- there’s definitely something giving her the moral”
Adien sighs “You’re just angry she stood up for her self --- going around intimidating my staff, you’ve finally met your match”
“Are you f*****g her? Are the both of you having a fling? Is that why you suddenly broke up with me just to continue with her? ADIEN answer me”
“Diana can you stop, this is an office--- stop shouting and stop saying nonsense or you leave ---- Also I am not seeing her ‘Yet’” He didn’t say the last word out before going to continue his work
Diana was already so angry, expecting Adien to coax her like he always did before but instead he was focused in whatever he was doing, she angrily stomped her feet before leaving and anyone who saw her knew to avoid her in other not to be the object of transferred aggression.
Diana gets home and immediately calls someone to start digging into Rose’s background
“ I want to know everything about her, from the day she was born to present--- Do not leave any stone unturned”
“ Of course ma” the other voice said
‘Rose --- Rose, you won’t get away with this’.
