JARREN KNOWS

ADIEN’S POV

I was still processing everything Rose said earlier. About being my ex mate, who I rejected, and now being my second chanced mate. I mean I knew about her being my second chanced mate. I suspected it, but what I didn’t expect was her being Rose my ex mate. Thinking about it now, it was really obvious. The same name, the aura, that spark, I should have at least suspected. Was it because I was afraid to admit it? I knew that if she really was Rose my ex mate, then there is definitely no redemption or atonement for me. Because I had hurt her, really hurt her, so I hoped, and wished she wasn’t the same person, I lied to myself. why? Because I wanted to make up for the hurt, the humiliation, and I wanted a way to atone for my sins. But now it’s clear, she will never forgive me.

Suddenly, Jarren walked into my office unannounced. Jarren never comes to my office without notice except it’s something urgent. Also, he has been on silent mode with me since after the mating ceremony where I cruelly rejected my mate, which I don’t blame him, and I totally understand his anger.

He warned me, he was against the rejection, he said I was being manipulated by the elders and everyone around me, he said I was jeopardizing my happiness for a mere position, and it wasn’t worth it. He said a lot of things, trying to make me change my mind, but I still did it. So of course I would be even more angry if I were in his shoes, he has been not just my beta, but my best friend for a very long time, we grew up together, and he has been the only one who really treated me as a person, not just an alpha of the pack.

He walked in, closed the door, before slamming a file on my table, and without sitting down, he just stood there, crossed his both hands around his chest.

"I need to tell you something about Miss Miles, and you are not going to like the first part or the second part. So which part should I deliver first? The first, or the second?”

I took the file, trying to open it. Though I already knew what it is about Miss Miles, or should I say, MY EX MATE, after all didn’t she just told by herself earlier.

“Aren’t you going to sit down?”

“No, I have other things to do, so I don’t intend to stay long”

“Ok”

I opened the file, and I saw everything. The pictures, from different angles, places she has been, in different mood.

‘how was he able to get all these pictures? She looked really beautiful, though compared to how she looks now, she was just average. She looks hotter now’

While I was going through the files, Jarren kept looking at me, maybe to spot any slightest change of expression, or to see if I was ok. I wasn’t ok. I was hoping it was all a lie, maybe to push me away, even though I know it wasn’t. but, there was nothing wrong with hoping right? Too bad, it was really true, she was saying the truth. She was is my ex mate, and also my second chanced mate.

“it’s not all, remember I said, there were two parts”

I looked up to know what else it was about Rose that I still don’t know

“Well. Apparently, she’s from a linage of different species of wolf that has been known to be extinct”

“What?”

“I said Rose Mile is suspected to be a different breed of wolf that is known to be extinct”

“I heard you the first time. I was just exclaiming”

”Oh…”

‘Different species? Extinct? Does she even know? How is it even possible?’

“If that’s true, then how is she alive? How did she come to existence? If her type are really extinct”

Jarren sighed before sitting on the chair ‘I thought he was going to keep standing?’

“True. You know I also thought about that, if her type are really extinct, how is she still alive? It simply means she was given birth to by her mother, who might also be of the same breed. But the twist is, her mother is long dead, even before she came into the pack. I even tried digging deeper, but I couldn’t find anything about her family or past. Which made me come to the conclusion that, its either she knows, and purposely hiding everything about her breed, or she doesn’t know, and they are hiding, and also doesn’t know about her too.”

“Whaoo… you’re so smart. But what if they’re not hiding, it’s just that we don’t know it’s them”

“ Ahhh… that’s another theory, which means you messed with the wrong wolf”

“yeah you can say that, everything is just messed up. I don’t know what else to do”

‘What this means is that she knew from the start, and still decided to work here. She knew I was the CEO, she didn’t care. I bet she didn’t even try to hid it, because if I remember vividly, her full name was written in her resume’. But I choose to ignore, why? Because I refuse to believe that she would come here of all places, wont that be more than a coincidence? She stood in front of me, yet I didn’t even recognize her. I only did after realizing she was my second chanced mate, and tried to make myself feel better by doing things right with her. What a jerk I am, bad mate, bad person’

“Now that you know you’ve f****d up big time, the question is--- what are you going to do now? I know she works here, making everything even worst, because I’m sure you didn’t recognize her initially. What will you do now?”

Jarren stood up, chuckled and left.

Adien looked at the photo for a long time. Then he said, to the empty room:

"I don’t know."
