CHAPTER 6— SHE ALREADY KNOWS AND DOESN'T WANT HIM

R0SE’S POV

Ever since the last meeting two days ago, I had already knew that Adien was my second chance mate, though it took me a while to confirm from my wolf who kept urging me to tell Adien. But my answer still remains the same which is NO, there is no way I’m going through that again--- once is enough.

‘I know you’re hurt, but all I’m asking is for you to tell him at least and hear what he has to say,’ my wolf kept urging me

‘What else does he has to say --- he said before, and I quote “you do not deserve to be my mate or luna”, have you forgotten so soon.’

‘What if he had his reasons for doing that, what if he isn’t as bad as he seems--- he was even made our second chance mate, isn’t that enough to tell you that he’s the one’

‘You’re just making silly excuses for him. If truly he was conflicted as you said, why didn’t he meet me privately to tell me? Why not talk to me? Why go as far as to convince me to come just to humiliate me’

‘That’s why both of you need to met and communicate, talk things out--- hiding won’t solve anything.’

‘Who says I’m hiding?’

‘Then what are you doing if not hiding?’

‘I’m just trying to live normally and earn--- what do you think he would have done if he knew who I was from the start, do you think he would have employed me?’

‘So what now, you’ll hide for the rest of your life? You do know that by now he should have known that you’re his second chance mate.’

‘Do I look like I care? No --- when I decided to tell him the truth, I would and whether he chooses to let me keep my job or not, my answer won’t change.’

My wolf became quiet while I walked to the kitchen, kept my used plate and headed to bed.

I woke up as early as 6:00 am, prepared for work and before 8:00 am, I was already at the office. While I was photocopying some documents with the photocopying machine, I heard a commotion outside and saw some staff looking panicked. I tapped one of the staff to know what was going on

“What’s the commotion about?”

“The CEO hasn’t arrive yet which is strange because he’s always earlier than most staff”

“So… maybe he go held up by something”

“But the investors are here with their executives, they want a briefing on the ongoing project--- the meeting was originally set at noon but they suddenly arrived earlier”

“Then there shouldn’t be an issues, just have someone do the briefing”

“Easy for you to say, these are our highest sponsors and investors. What if the person flops and they are not convinced enough to bet their money on the project, that person would be done for --- of course that’s why everyone is panicking because no one wants to be a scapegoat.”

“ Have anyone tried calling the CEO?”

“ His number is currently unreachable--- this is serious, we can’t leave them waiting for long.”

“ what about his P.A ?”

“He’s over there trying to reach the CEO,” she pointed to the young beta on suit whose sweating profusely while calling someone

I handed the documents to the lady before walking to Adien’s P.A

“Still no response?” He shook his head

“Is the project the same one we discussed a few days ago?”

“Yes Miss Rose --- they’re already becoming impatient, I’ve run out of excuses to give them”

“I’ll do it--- I mean I can do it”

He was shocked for a second before regaining his posture

“Miss Rose this isn’t like the presentation you did before, the people inside are our highest investors, If they’re not convinced, the project is likely to fail--- do you understand how serious this is”

“Anyways if they leave angrily, won't the project also fail? I’m trying to help and I’ll put in my best”

He thought for a while before finally agreeing. He gave me the report before leading me into the room, I could feel the tension in the air but I was very confident in my abilities because after the last meeting, I had taken the report home to study it and made some changes, so I knew everything like the back of my palm.

“I sincerely apologize for the delay, please forgive us --- we promise not to let this repeat itself again”

Then I started the presentation, speaking confidently, clearing their doubts and answering all their questions. By the time I was done, I had already won over more than half of the executives and investors and just then Mr Reanon walked in, though he looked calm and even surprised to see me standing there, I could hear his heart beat fast.

He greeted the investors, then apologized for coming late explaining that he was held up on the way.

“The meeting was already taken care of by Miss Rose here and I must say--- you have such intelligent mind here” investor 1 said

The others also agreed and kept complimenting me, before telling Mr Reanon about their decision to invest fully on the project, everyone was so relieved and excited while Mr Reanon followed them outside.

After the presentation, I went to the coffee-making machine to get coffee when that same lady from earlier saw me

“ Oh my God you were so amazing earlier--- you’re the hot topic of the company, everyone is talking about you”

“Hope they’re saying something good”

“Does is matter? What matters is you literarily saved us all--- do you know if you haven’t gone to represent the CEO, all of us would have had a deduction on our salaries”

“Really?”

“of course---” just as she was about to continue, Adien’s P.A came to inform me that Mr Reanon wanted to see me and by the way his name is CONER I don’t know why I keep calling him Adien’s P.A.

Adien waited patiently while tapping his pen on the table when Rose walked into the office.

She walks in, he sees her at the head of his table, and something in his expression shifts permanently.
