KIRA READS THE ROOM

KIRA’S POV
Its been a while since Rose and I hung out together, so since I was close to her company, I decided to stop by for lunch. Normally, I don’t think that was allowed, but I asked Rose earlier, and she said she asked her boss, and he agreed saying that as long as it’s not frequent, one can bring outsiders to the company’s cafeteria to eat. After all, these so much food, that some staff even go home with extra food.
‘Benefits of working in a big company I guess. You get free food, allowance and even free wifi’
I called Rose when I got to the lobby, and all I can say is whao!. The lobby of E&R Bio-Tech was trying very hard to look like it wasn't the headquarters of a werewolf empire. I had to respect the effort. I mean I have seen this building several times, but this is the first time entering it. It was so big and gigantic.
Rose texted me, telling me to enter the building, and walk toward the elevator. I entered the building, and I was mesmerized. The inside was neat and cold, there were people or staff walking around, making the place look busy. I noticed some omegas with their patches, everyone was respected, and seen as equal. It was truly amazing, in some companies or organizations, they don’t allow omegas to work there, or even if it’s allowed, you’ll only be allowed to work at the lowest level. They even go as far as undermining your efforts, exploiting your skills and pay you peanuts, just because you are an omega, disgusting. That was why I left my first job, it wasn’t worth it, to be in an environment that doesn’t value your secondary gender, or look down on your skills and potential, because of your secondary gender. It's really nice to see that Mr Reanon isn’t that bad of a person, at least he values everybody’s effort despite your secondary gender.
Then I saw Rose coming from the elevator, and my breathe paused for a minute because even I still forget sometimes how different Rose looks now, so hot.
“whaoo… you look…” I said while looking her from head to toe
“Don’t start, aren’t you hungry?”
“how’s work going by the way”
“Fine I guess”
I chuckled as she dragged me to the cafeteria. There were a lot of people, some sitting in pairs to eat, some were queuing up to get food. It was relaxing to see. We were able to find a really good spot to sit.
“Whaoo… your CEO is really doing well here”
“yeah, the company is really good”
“do you think I should apply to your company?”
“Aren’t you already working in the media?”
“So? I like here better, they should just fire me now”
“Be careful of what you wish for… let’s go get food”
We went to the food stand to get food, before returning to our table.
“whaoo… there’s even chicken?”
“Trust me it taste better”
I had a taste and “OH my god, this is good… Can I take out?”
“of course, there’s a lot of food”
“No wonder, you hardly cook these days, turns out your company feeds you all”
“After eating, I’ll show you around”
“that will be great”
After a while, I noticed Rose being absent minded, and not really eating her food.
“You don’t like the food? Is it not to your taste?” I asked worriedly.
“No the food is nice, I guess there’s a lot on my mind lately”.
“How is work going?”
She sighed because I’ve asked her this same question several times now
“Work is going well..”
I kept looking at her with expecting eyes, she knows what I want when I look at her that way.
“Is it about your boss?”
“yeah, I don’t know how or when to tell him. I always freeze when I want to spit it out”
“I thought we agreed already, that you’ll tell him before Diana does”
“It’s easier said than done”
“I know, but what other choice do we have. If you keep delaying, and that b***h tell him herself, who knows what she will add and subtract. It's better you just come clean. The sooner you do so, the better”
“Yeah whatever. Maybe tomorrow, I need to practice what to say, so I don’t fumble with my speech.”
‘Rose really?”
“Yeah I’m serious you have to help me, we’re practicing tonight. I have to be clear and hit the nail on the head, right now, I’m too drained to do that”
“Ok whatever you need. Tomorrow deal”
“That’s if he doesn’t have any urgent meetings…”
I cut her off before she could finish “ROSE…Tomorrow”
“Ok tomorrow, geez”
“How about you, how’s work?”
“Well it’s just the same everyday”
After we had finished eating, and disposing the dishes since they’re disposable. Rose started showing me around the building since they’re still on break. We went to the coffee room, the printing room, the library. I didn’t know they even had a library, that’s cool.
We were walking back through the main floor, when I spotted Adien or should I say Mr Reanon in a glassed wall office. He stood there facing the glass wall, and watching everyone. Immediately he saw Rose, it was like his expression changed, and became soft. He kept staring at her so intensively, with the way he was so focused on her, I bet he didn’t notice I was walking beside Rose. Interesting.
Walking towards the exit, I looked at Rose ‘ Did she really not notice the stare?’
“ What? Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Nothing. Your boss was staring earlier”
Rose turned around to check before facing me “When? He must have been watching, he watches everyone”
“Really? It didn’t seem like it though”
“Kira you’re just overthinking”
“Maybe I was. Maybe I wasn’t …. Anyways I got to go”
“See you tonight. Don’t forget”
“Yeah yeah. I won’t forget, see you”
“bye…”
Kira gets in her car, pulls out her phone, and starts researching. Not Adien, but Diana. Because if Adien is watching Rose that way, then someone else is probably watching too.
