Diana came down from her car, and walked straight into the building. She entered the living room, where she met the butler, who walked towards her and asked politely.
“Miss Diana good day. What can I help you with?”
“Tell the elder that I am here to see him”
“ok miss Diana”
Then she left to call elder Lucian, who she came to see urgently. Shortly after the butler left, elder Lucian descended from the stairs. He didn’t look that old, and weak. Instead he looked like he was in his fifties, late or early. But looking at the fact that he is an alpha, and he has been around even before Adien’s dad became the alpha. He should be more than a hundred years old, still looking agile on his feet. That’s because werewolves are supernatural beings, and they also have a long life span. That means an average beta can live up to or even more than a hundred years. They didn’t get sick that often like humans, and they healed faster than humans. Though they live among humans, their identity are kept a secret from humans. In fact, in some packs, they are rules that state that werewolves are not allowed to be with humans, or expose their identity to humans. If found guilty, they can be banished from the pack, and become a lone wolf. A lone wolf is a werewolf without a pack. And a lone wolf can also be: A disperser, which is a young werewolf that leaves his birth pack to find a mate and starts his own pack. Or an outcast, which is a werewolf who was driven out after losing a fight for dominance. Though, it usually occurs within the pack’s rule, especially when they are other wolves fighting for the same position. They’re meant to fight for dominance, the strongest, and winner takes the position, while the losers leaves the pack. A lone wolf can also be a werewolf who lost his mate or pack members.
But in Reanon pack, things are quite different. The pack collaborate with the government for better living, humans are allowed to do business with members of the pack, though their identity must be kept a secret, to avoid problems in the future. And even pack members are free to love and get married to humans, as long as they bring their partners to be initiated properly, and fully into the pack, where they would be made to take an oath of secrecy to keep the identity of the pack, and their partners. The day you break that oath, you loose your senses or even your life. So it’s something really sacred, before bringing your partner, you have to be confident enough that they would keep your secret or continue lying to them.
This rule was established by one of Adien’s fore-fathers who made his best friend from the army his beta, becoming the first alpha to open the doors for humans. Though there was a lot obstacle and challenges, he still succeeded, and made it a rule. Then there was another one who married a human.
Back to elder Lucian “Diana you finally decided to see me. What do I owe this visit”
A cup of coffee was given to him by his butler, the he goes ahead to sip his tea while listening to Diana rant.
“Did you know that Adien has found a second chanced mate”
He paused mid-sip when he heard those words,
“Oh I guess he also kept it from you. But that’s not the issue at hand, his second chanced mate is Rose. The same Rose who was his former mate, how is hat even possible?”
“All these you just mentioned, did he say it personally to you?”
“Of course he did, how else was I supposed to know that she was his second chanced mate. Like the first time wasn’t enough”
“Hmm. Interesting”
“Is it because she looked different? Or he was just lying to me”
“She looked different?”
“Was that the only thing you heard me say elder Lucian?”
“How different did she look?”
“Well --- entirely different, even her height is different. I wonder how that’s possible”
Elder Lucian looked like he was more interested in the information surrounding Rose than the problem at hand, which is the fact that Adien is ready to throw away all the warning, and pursue her, even though it’s quite obvious she doesn’t want anything thing to do with Adien, especially after the rejection.
She remembered earlier that day, she went to see Adien in his office. He didn’t even looked pleased to see her, and didn't bother to hid it. Then Rose entered, and his posture, his aura, everything suddenly changed like a puppy exited to see it’s owner. The way his tone suddenly became soft, like he was trying to coax her, totally different from how he was earlier.
‘Adien was never like that with me, even when we were dating. It always seem like there was a wall I couldn’t break, he always seemed distant and far away even when were cuddled together in bed. But I would always think, it's just him being an alpha. So many responsibilities. So many burdens, it would be nice if he could rely on me. Those were just my wishful thinking I guess. Have I really lost him this time?’
He even invited her for lunch, but she bluntly refused. Immediately, he looked like a drenched dog, and I suddenly had the urge to smack Rose’s face.
‘how dare her. Who does she think she is?’
He didn’t say anything. didn’t try to persuade her, or use his alpha statue. He just ‘hmmed’, and I was just seated there, watching like a third wheel.
‘Was Adien always like that? Soft. Gentle. Cute. Timid’
“what do you think about that Rose?”
“I think she’s a b***h distracting, and messing with Adien”
He snickered, before whispering “She’s no ordinary wolf”
“What did you say?”
“I said I need to request a meeting with Rose directly”
