CHAPTER 5: THE SECOND CHANCE MATE SIGNAL

After the meeting ended, Adein barely made it to his office with the help of his P.A. He sat on the couch in his office, undo his tie and opens his shirt button, but he still felt uncomfortable. At this point he was already sweating profusely--- his breathing quickened, his head banging and his wolf restlessly wanting to surface.

His P.A asked worried “Mr Reanon are you ok? You don’t look good at all”

“I’ll be fine, just get me a glass of water”

“OK sir” He said before leaving in a hurry to get a bottle of water from the fridge not too far from the couch, he pours the cold water in a glass before handing it to Adien who collected it with shaking hands.

After drinking the water, he relaxed a little bit before saying to his P.A

“clear out my schedule for today, I’m not feeling too good”

“ok sir, will you need me to prepare the car to take you home”

“Yes “

“Alright” he said before leaving

Once alone, Adien finally began to analyze the whole situation ‘what really happen early? Why did my wolf suddenly became restless? What’s going on?’

Adien after coming home, took a shower before heading downstairs where he sees an Elder waiting for him at the living room

“Elder Mason, I’m so sorry for calling you out this late--- I just don’t want news flying around”

“I understand you’re being discreet but I must say I was quite surprised when you called for me. I hope it’s nothing serious”

“well I don’t know--- something mysterious happened to me earlier today that left me perplexed”

“I’m listening”

“Earlier today, my wolf suddenly reacted to a staff of mine which has never happened before”

“That staff of yours, is she someone you know before?”

“No--- that the strange part about this, I don’t know her before, she just got employed recently”

“What if she’s your mate”

“Elder Mason, I rejected my mate remember?”

“I mean what if she’s your second chance mate”

“Is that even possible? It’s not even up to 2 months yet”

“It’s possible, though rare but in most cases it happens--- this is the reason I was against the rejection in the first place, I don’t even know how Elder Lucian was able to convince or manipulate you into rejecting your mate--- did you consider what could go wrong? What if she had died or worst you wolf ?”

All through this Adien was quiet, for some reason he suddenly felt his chest tightened weather from guilt or something else, he doesn’t know

“So what you’re saying is she is my second chance mate, right?”

“It might be deeper than we think”

“how so?”

Elder Lucian breathe heavily before saying “did you know that your first mate was no ordinary wolf? I felt it the moment I saw her--- she’s likely to be a rare wolf and she didn’t even know, I tried to stop you but you were so bent on rejecting her. I don’t even know the kind she is, what if you get cursed or something worst happened--- Second chance mate. You rejected a rare wolf. Do you understand what you've done?"

“ Everything was just so complicated, but I’m happy I have been given a second chance mate, I’ll try to fix this”

“well I wish you good luck in every of your endeavors”

“Thank you Elder Lucian, I knew I could rely on you”

“Of course, I’m always here to help”

“I’d appreciate it if this conversation stays between us”

“of course--- then I’ll take my leave now”

After Elder Mason left, Adien was left to ponder about what he said ‘she was a rare wolf? I just hope she’s ok and has moved on--- maybe we weren’t meant to be in the first place. Did Diana and Elder Lucian knew she was a rare wolf?’

Rose has just finished preparing noodles and is currently eating it while watching her favorite show when a call came from Kira. She picked the video call and Kira’s loud voice can be heard from the phone

“Baby girl you’re so mean--- you didn’t even call me to tell me about your first day at work despite all the effort I put into making you look ravishing”

“I’m sorry, I was very tired when I came back, I was going to call you after eating”

“Ok but I’ll only truly forgive you if you tell me everything about your first day--- did heads turn?”

“Obviously “

“ Of course heads would turn, who do you think I am---- if I wasn’t so poor, I would have open a beauty shop by now”

“ Apparently good looks alone can save you--- some rumors are circulating in the office that I was promoted to Team A using underhand methods”

“You got promoted on your first day? That’s weird---- but anyways what’s so special about Team A”

“Team A is the highest team that work directly with the CEO”

“ooo--- No wonder the rumors are circulating, I’d also think the same if someone suddenly get promoted on their first day at work”

“I don’t see anything strange about that, I am good at what I do”

“Of course you’re exceptional but you still can’t blame others for doubting you and thinking such---- anyways that aside, did Adien recognize you?”

“No he didn’t”

“REALLY, even after you said your full name?”

“I mean they’re so many people answering the same name and I’m sure he doesn’t even remember what I looked like anymore---- which is better, at least now I just focus on my job and earning. I don’t care about any other thing”

“Well if that’s what makes you happy, then why not”

“Thank you for always being here”

“Of course girl, that’s what friends do, show up for each other--- alright have to go, talk to you later bye”

“good night”

Rose dropped her phone beside her before thinking back to what happened earlier today at the boardroom. After she had accidentally release her pheromones, she noticed the change in Adien’s expression and before the door was closed, she also sniff the scent of his pheromones. At that moment, her wolf became restless, she ran to the restroom to calm herself and that was when she knew Adien was her second chance mate
