The drive from New Haven, Connecticut to Cambridge, Massachusetts is a pleasurable one. Kate’s always loved it. People find if funny that she’s the one visiting Chris if they’re both going back home to Alpequa, New Jersey when it should be the other way around. Connecticut is after all closer to New Jersey than Massachusetts.
The thing is, they’re not going back to Alpequa. Chris is somehow afraid of Alpequa, the town haunts him. Nobody knows about that fact; they didn’t know the story. But Kate knew, and Dion too. Chris is avoiding Parker and Emma, so he never spends the summer in Alpequa. Chris only comes to Alpequa for events like Thanksgiving and Christmas but he does it fast.
