I was excited and eager to share the good news with Sarah, but that part at the end changed my mood completely. This was not the first time that Mr. Gordon was trying to get closer to Sarah, and he had his eye on her ever since we had met by chance at the steakhouse.
Mr. Gordon could not be up to anything good with this invitation. Still, I had already agreed that I would bring Sarah along for a drink so that we could celebrate, so I could not just refuse him now. Trying my best to force out a smile, I responded, “Sure, you can pick the place, Mr. Gordon. I’ll drive over to fetch her later and we can meet up tonight.”
“Yes, what about that steakhouse we happened to bump into each other last time? It’s a pretty upscale establishment, and I quite enjoyed my time there. What do you think?"
