Chapter 5

As they took me into the building blindfolded, Everywhere smells like blood.

The building has underground, when we got to the basement, I was untied and they removed the blindfold

I saw about 30 other pregnant girls,some about 9 months gone just waiting for delivery.

They were all seated on a mattress laying on the floor, some were eating unhealthy looking food,

There's two nurses giving one of the girls injections.

My chest tightened suddenly, Is this where I am going to stay for 7 months????

I said asking no one in particular, one of the nurses stared at me with disgust

“you can't stay here but you can open your leg for a man,”

the nurse replied as the second nurse burst out a heavy laughter.

At this point I became disappointed in myself.

I sat down at the corner and cried throughout that day I blamed myself for my predicament.

None of the girls said anything to me, they were just quietly gazing at me.

Isabella approached me the next day and offered me water,

“Don't cry ok you will be alright, have some water”

Isabella is one of the girls at Hidden Grove, she is five months pregnant.

She is so beautiful that I wonder how a beautiful girl like her landed there.

“What brought you here”

she asked me I explained my predicament to her, how my boyfriend betrayed me and I found out I was pregnant after his death by road accident.

she sympathized with me and comforted me and for the first time I felt like sisterly love.

Her case was different her parents forced her to marry a riff raff just to pay off debt.

Her husband got her pregnant and brought her here just to get 22 Thousand dollars after the baby's delivery.

She has tried to run away some many times but it was fruitless since the building is heavily guarded and you won't know your way out since most of us were blindfoldedly brought into this place.

she was the only child of her parents too and she is just 23.

“Let me tell you the rules here so you won't fall into problem”

Isabella said lowering her voice,

Firstly do not attempt to run away these masked men have guns with them, you might be shot if you try to do so.

Secondly whatever food you are served just try and eat so you won't starve to death.

Thirdly do not fight or make trouble with anyone or cause any issues, you will be locked up in a private room and you will be starved, sometimes molested by the masked men.

“

Ok” I replied with tears in my eyes cursing the day I meet Paul.

And since that day Isabella became more than a sister to me at the Hidden Grove.

she made sure none of the other girls looked for my trouble,

Though her baby bump was bigger than mine she will always stay at the queue whenever food is shared and get for both of us we would eat, laugh and share life experiences.

At the Hidden Grove some girls return almost yearly to sell their babies just to get 22 Thousand dollars and you never get to see the baby, once he or she is delivered, the baby will be taken away immediately, you will stay at the Hidden Grove for some days before you are paid and you will be blindfolded out of the building just like you came in.

Some girls even pray to give birth to twins or triplets the more the number of the baby the higher your money, some girls even die with their baby and they are just disposed like is trash.

I asked Isabella what they do with the babies, she told me they sell the babies

and you never get to know who they sold your baby to.

The name of the person who owns the Hidden Grove is called Jaja.

He is the one in charge of selling the babies and paying the masked men, the nurses and the cook.

Most times jaja sleep with some of the pregnant girls here.

Few months later I developed love for my baby I communicate with my baby like I was talking to a real person, I always pray and wish my baby will be bought by some rich couple, and I will get to meet him someday at some point I regretted ever stepping foot at the Hidden Grove, how I wish my baby will stay with me after delivery.

Months later I was just laughing and talking with Isabella at the courtyard and she started screaming

“ my baby it seems like my baby is coming”

I called one of the nurses, Isabella was taken into labour room.

After some hours Isabella came out, I hugged her tightly as we both sat down, there was still blood stains on her clothes.

They didn't allow me to see my angel she said crying, they told me I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.

On the day Isabella left the Hidden Grove I cried so hard that I couldn't cry again, my only comforter at the Hidden Grove is gone.

Before you step into the hidden grove your phone will be destroyed and there will be no trace or communication between you and outside the world.

“ I will miss you”

I said as I hugged her tightly

“I will miss you too”

she said to me as the masked men dragged her out.

Before Isabella left the Hidden Grove she told me on the day of my delivery I shouldn't swallow the pill that will be given to me by the nurse they'll tell you is a supplement that will help you push out the baby easily but that's actually a sleeping pill.

The pill will weaken your system and you'll l fell asleep immediately after delivery and they will do away with your baby.

Isabella left the Hidden Grove and i prepare myself as the day of my delivery drew nearer.

Rose one of the girl at the odessy was in lebour, that was her third time coming to the Hidden Grove.

She sees that deadly hidden grove as a source of income.

As she entered the theater room she didn't make it out alive, she was taken away by the masked men.

I prayed feverntly that nothing happens to me and I will make it out alive.

On the day of the delivery my water broke I screamed for help and was rushed to the labour room.

The room was so dark with dim light, poor unsanitized equipment and a long table.

The nurse forcefully open my legs as they scream at me to push out the baby.

One of the nurse put a pill in my mouth and told me to swallow it but I hide it under my tongue as the nurse left.

When my baby was delivered, a very handsome boy with curly hair he looks as handsome as his father and have my beautiful eyes the nurse didn't notice that am not unconscious as one of them left, the other went to call jaja.

Immediately I got a scissors and gave him a very deep cut at the back of his neck as tears filled my eyes imagine leaving such a handsome and cute boy with this stranger.

I layed back on the table, soon the nurse and Jaja came in

“ohh his is so handsome and healthy this one is will fetch us enough money.”

He said, as he let out a devilish and wicked laughter.
