Damien’s POV
I returned minutes later with Valentina trailing behind, her arms full of cleaning supplies. My steps quickened as we approached the room. Something felt off — like a silence too loud.
I pushed open the door.
Empty.
“No…” I whispered, stepping in slowly. And Emily… vanished.
The room looked untouched. The doorframe wasn’t broken. The lock was intact. She didn’t force her way out.
“How did she get out?” I muttered, moving toward the window. But that was still shut and nailed from the inside.
“She found the key,” Valentina said quietly behind me. “She must’ve found a key.”
My jaw clenched. Rage bubbled inside me like a volcano ready to erupt. I swung my fist at the wall and left a deep dent.
