CHAPTER SIX –––––––– MCNAMARA DIDN’T WORRY about the girl’s presence in the car with them, and consequently, he didn’t bother to drive moderately. The DCI never wasted his time to think of such unimportant matters when he had a specific goal in his mind. Right away, after the DCI started his sprint through the traffic, the young woman’s eyebrows shot high under her bangs and remained there for the entire drive to Grindlay Street. She barely could draw air into her lungs. Her wide eyes and bewilderment would have amused James if he hadn’t been so busy to press his left foot to the floor all the time. That way, at least, James nurtured the illusion that he had some control over both the speed and the trajectory of the car. McNamara seemed to be in a good mood during that ride, indeed. H
