Esther was overjoyed when she received the money.
She immediately left the house and headed to the city. She wanted to buy a few things and enjoy a good meal at a restaurant.
The moment she left, Ronald quietly walked toward her room.
He tried the door.
Locked.
Ronald frowned.
"What is she hiding?" he wondered.
He stared at the door for a moment before turning away.
"I may need to add another rule to our agreement."
With that thought, he returned to his room.
At the Store
Esther was browsing through the clothes when she suddenly heard a familiar voice.
"What are you doing here?"
She turned around.
Jennifer stood behind her, staring at her with a mocking smile.
"Who would have thought the rejected daughter would have enough money to shop in a*****e like this?"
She folded her arms.
"I've always told you to stop pretending to live a life you can't afford."
Esther stared at her calmly.
"Are you talking to me?"
She glanced around.
"Do I look like your sister?"
Jennifer's expression changed.
"Esther..."
"When did we become family again?"
Esther tilted her head innocently.
"Doesn't this store have enough security? Why are they allowing a sick person to walk around here?"
She turned away from Jennifer.
Several customers nearby looked at Jennifer strangely.
Jennifer's face immediately changed.
"What do you mean by that?"
She hurried after Esther.
"Please forgive me. Don't reject me just because I tried to correct you."
Her eyes filled with tears.
"I only want what's best for you."
Several people around them began feeling sorry for Jennifer.
Some even looked at Esther with disapproval.
Jennifer secretly smiled.
Perfect.
She knew exactly how to make people take her side.
But Esther suddenly changed her expression.
Tears streamed down her face.
"Who wants to be your family?"
Her voice trembled.
"You stole my inheritance."
"You sold me out."
"You constantly found fault with everything I did."
She wiped her tears.
"And now you're embarrassing me in public?"
She looked around at the people watching them.
"What have I ever done to your family?"
The entire store became silent.
Everyone stared at the two sisters in shock.
Unknown to Esther, Andrew was also inside the store.
He had witnessed everything.
Without saying a word, he took out his phone and recorded the scene.
Then he sent the video to Ronald.
A few minutes later, the store manager hurried toward them.
"Miss Esther, I'm terribly sorry."
He bowed slightly.
"Please, anything you wish to purchase today will be provided free of charge."
Everyone gasped.
Jennifer's eyes widened.
Even Esther was surprised.
She had no idea why the manager was suddenly treating her this way.
"No, it's alright," Esther replied softly.
"I'll pay for my things."
She glanced at Jennifer.
"I just don't want any more trouble."
The manager nodded.
"Of course, Madam."
He immediately turned toward Jennifer.
"I'm afraid you'll have to leave the store."
"What?"
Jennifer stared at him in disbelief.
"You can't do this!"
The security guards approached her.
Jennifer glared at Esther.
"This isn't over."
She lowered her voice.
"You won't be laughing for long."
Then she stormed out.
The store slowly returned to normal.
At the Restaurant
Esther sat quietly at a table, enjoying her meal.
She had barely taken a few bites when three familiar people suddenly appeared beside her.
Esther looked up in surprise.
"Mercy?"
Then she looked at the other two.
"Michael? Michelle?"
The twins smiled.
"We missed you!"
Mercy sat down beside her.
"Three Star isn't complete without its leader."
Three Star was the secret group Esther had formed with them.
Esther immediately looked around nervously.
"Keep your voices down."
She lowered her voice.
"I don't want anyone to know that I'm the leader of Three Star."
Michael laughed.
"Don't worry. We understand."
Michelle smiled.
"That's why I dress like a boy whenever we're together."
She pointed at herself and laughed.
Esther couldn't help laughing.
"You two really are something."
After a moment, Esther's expression softened.
"How are my grandparents?"
"They're fine," Michael replied.
Esther nodded in relief.
Then she turned toward Mercy.
"But why did you come to my school?"
Mercy's expression became serious.
"I didn't go there to betray you."
"I moved closer to Jennifer for a reason."
Esther studied her face for a moment.
She trusted Mercy, so she didn't ask any more questions.
"Alright."
Then she lowered her voice.
"But be careful."
"Jennifer is cunning and dangerous."
Mercy nodded.
"I'll be fine."
None of them noticed that someone was watching them from a distance.
Jennifer stood outside the restaurant.
She secretly took several pictures of Esther sitting with the three of them.
Her lips curled into a wicked smile.
"What's Esther doing with three men?"
"And she's married."
She stared at the pictures.
"What if I send these to that cold CEO?"
Her smile widened.
"Or perhaps I should post them on the school platform."
"Let's see how you'll explain yourself then, Esther."
She turned and walked away.
Esther continued eating and laughing with her friends.
Eventually, she glanced at her watch.
Her eyes widened.
"Seven o'clock already?"
She immediately stood up.
"I have to go."
After saying goodbye to her friends, she left the restaurant.
She drove home, feeling slightly nervous.
"I hope that cold CEO isn't angry with me."
When she arrived at the mansion, the gate opened automatically.
Esther quietly entered, hoping to slip into her room without being noticed.
Unfortunately...
Luck wasn't on her side.
The moment she stepped inside, she heard Ronald's voice.
"Where are you coming from?"
Esther froze.
Ronald stood in the living room, his expression cold.
"Have you become so comfortable that you've forgotten my rules?"
Esther immediately knew something was wrong.
"I'm sorry."
She lowered her head.
"I didn't realize how late it was."
But this time, her innocent voice didn't soften Ronald's expression.
"I told you to be home before six."
His voice became colder.
"But you went out to dine with three men and returned at seven."
He stared at her.
"What if something had happened to you?"
"Who would have saved you?"
Esther's expression hardened.
"I'm not a child."
"Before I married you, I had a life."
"And I know how to protect myself."
Ronald walked toward her.
"So you can protect yourself?"
He gave a humorless laugh.
"Even when you're surrounded by three men while people secretly take pictures of you?"
Esther froze.
"What?"
Ronald's expression darkened.
"I told you to protect my reputation."
"I didn't do anything to damage your reputation."
Esther stepped backward.
"And I have a reputation too."
"Besides, nobody even knows we're married."
Ronald's eyes narrowed.
"So I should announce to the entire world that you're my wife?"
His voice became dangerously calm.
"Would that stop you from going around with three men?"
"Three men?"
Esther stared at him.
"I'm not flirting with anyone!"
Then she suddenly stopped.
Her eyes widened.
How does he know about them?
She looked at Ronald suspiciously.
"Are you spying on me?"
Ronald slammed his hand against the table.
"Don't deny it."
He stared at her.
"Just remember that you're a married woman."
"Don't do anything that will destroy my reputation."
With that, he turned and walked upstairs angrily.
Esther remained standing in the living room.
Her mind raced.
How does he know I was with them?
What's going on?
She frowned.
"I don't care what he thinks."
Still angry, Esther turned around and stormed toward her room.
But one thought wouldn't leave her mind.
How did Ronald know?
To be continued...
