"Luna, the Alpha gave strict orders that you can't leave the pack without his company." A guard at the border recognized me and blocked my way.
I knew I could easily overpower him.
But if I shifted and revealed my golden wolf, the entire Fullmoon Pack would be thrown into a panic. Golden wolves were a trait of the Alpha family of the Obsidian Pack, their sworn enemy.
That would make things way too complicated.
Still, he called me Luna, which made me think he probably had no idea what had happened to the Alpha family.
I forced a calm smile and said, "The Alpha sent me out to pick up some stuff. You know, there are some things that are too private to let others handle. And the Alpha is swamped with work and can't always be with me."
