Secret

Blake's POV

It's Monday and one of the few lectures I have with Terry, but I'm running late, damn it. I got to the university and rushed to get to the class, I checked the time only to see the lesson had already begun, and I'm sure I probably look like a mess I didn't even have a look at myself in the mirror before I left. I took a minute to catch my breath and then entered the classroom and apologized to the professor before I looked for my friends, I made eye contact with Terry and couldn't look away, I could feel a smile tug at my lips as I looked her over unable to control the amount of joy I experienced just being able to see her. I promised myself I would treasure every second I saw her, I felt a little hurt though when she averted her gaze from me.

Deciding not to dwell on it too much, I ran up the stairs to my seat behind her, grateful my friends left the seat open between them for me.

"Never thought I see the day you turn up late" my one friend, Daniel remarked.

"Yeah, I kinda overslept " was all I could answer.

My other friend, Selena was giggling silently as she looked me up and down, I raised an eyebrow at her in confusion, she just shook her head at me and helped sort out my hair.

"Thanks" I said smiling at her.

I'm happy I get to see them again, after we graduated before, we drifted apart, it's one of the reasons I don't regret making that deal, coming back in time has given me back so many blessings I took for granted the first time. and I wouldn't let anything go to waste this time. I would use this opportunity to fix all of my mistakes and hold onto every opportunity I get with my loved ones.

I was putting my things together after the lecture when I heard Selena ask Karina and Terry to join us for lunch, I didn't mind, since the last time I had lunch alone with Terry we all started eating lunch together. I was happy my friends got along so well with them. Sadly Terry and I still seemed so distant from each other even though we've been spending more time together than we used to, she still refused to hold a proper conversation with me even though I was the one taking the initiative to start the conversation, it hurt me but I wouldn't show it, especially to her.

"Sure" Karina's answer snapped me out of my thoughts, and I watched as she linked arms with Terry and practically dragged her along behind my friends while I walked behind everyone.

We got our lunch, found a table and started eating, I was feeling thirsty so I asked everyone if they wanted something to drink, A yes came at me all at once, I hid a chuckle and turned to go get us drinks when I heard Karina volunteer to come with me so I had help with the drinks, I didn't need the help but I didn't object to it, she probably just wants to talk to me about Terry.

"Hey, uhm I'm not exactly sure if I should ask you seeing as you are engaged to my best friend" she started out.

"Whatever it is just ask, you won't know until you do" I encouraged her.

"I don't think I have the courage right now to ask, but maybe we can exchange numbers and talk sometime" she kind of asked.

"Sure" I said, she handed me her phone and I just put my number in for her, I watched as she saved it and put her phone back into her pocket.

We got the drinks and went back to the table. The day ended and I decided to wait for Terry that way we could go home together. Once we got home we went to our rooms and freshened up. I went downstairs seeing Terry still hadn't come down so sat on the couch and called her.

"Terry" I called, she came down the stairs and replied with a simple "Hmm".

"I know we've been living together for a while but I think we should set a couple of house rules." I started out.

"Oh,okay"

*Flashback*

"Oh,okay" She sat down next to me.

"I already typed out my rules" I said as I pushed my laptop towards her.

She read the rules on my screen, her facing scrunching up as she did.

"One - Do not disturb me, Two - Do not enter my room without my permission, Three - Only my friends are allowed in this house, Four I will do whatever I want to, whenever I want to and you don't get a say in it." She read them out loud.

When she was done she looked up at me clearly annoyed, I smirked happy that I was able to make her angry and ensure that I have all the freedom I want.

"Anything else you want to add to the list?"

"If I can add 'Screw the above rules' then yes, if not then no"

"I'm glad you were able to figure out that you can't do that." I smirked and then printed out a few copies and stuck them to every door in the house as a reminder to her and also to make her more angry.

*Present time*

She took a seat next to me just has she did before.

"I've already added a few rules feel free to add yours as well" I said handing her my laptop.

"One - Do not ever enter Blake's room even if it's to clean." She paused, blinked and turned to me confused " You'll clean your own room from now on? Why?"

I wanted to say 'Because you just can't enter my room, but instead I just gave a nod ignoring the 'why' part of her question, she shrugged and looked back at the screen to continue reading.

"Two - There is no need to check on Blake so don't do it no matter the reason... Why? what if you got seriously hurt and need the hospital? I mean I don't think it'll happen... but still."

Again I found myself wanting to reply with 'Because I don't want you asking my anymore questions when you see me in pain, kind of like the way you are bombarding me with questions right now' but I can't let her know so I just said "Because I can handle it all on my own, and for the last time because I know you're thinking it, I'm not sick or anything".

"Fair enough, Three - Neither of us will bring our friends over unless it's Karina or it's a special occasion." She looked up at me once again confused. "Why is Karina the only exception?"

I just can't seem to give the answers I'm thinking so I just replied with "Because she doesn't seem like she'll cause any trouble."

"Weird, but I'm not complaining." She shrugged and moved onto the next rule. "Four - We'll take turns doing the cleaning, Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays are Terry and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are Blake." She seemed happy with that one seeing as she didn't ask any questions about it.

"Five - ..." She stopped and seemed to be rereading it.

"What..."

"What's wrong? You can't do it?"

"No, I'm just surprised."

"That's great. So is there anything that you want to add?"

"Hmm...Not really, just don't invade my privacy either."

"Right so because the rules are easy to remember, I don't think it's necessary to remind you, right?"

"Yeah, I remember them all already."

I hummed in response, closed my laptop and went up to my room, smiling to myself, I couldn't wait for rule number 5 to begin.

~time skip~

"Blake! Open the door!" I heard knocking on my door and the door knob being abused.

This annoyed me,so I went to open the door, seeing Karina was the one who decided to irritate me I asked her in an annoyed tone. "What do you want?"

She caught me off guard with the amount of strength she had for someone so small, by the time I managed to get back on guard she had pushed me back into my room and closed the door behind her, and back me up against the wall.

"What the hell have you done?" she asked glaring right into my eyes.

"What do you mean?" I asked innocently and genuinely confused.

"Ugh...This is driving me crazy" She said to herself as she pulled away and tugged at her hair in frustration. "This might sound insane or make me sound insane, but I know you don't have much time left."

My eyes widened in shock and I rushed to cover her mouth with my hand. "Firstly, lower your voice. Secondly, How do you know?"

"I have the ability to see lifespans... I'm weird I know but I have no control over it, I was born this way, and that's not important, what is important is that I've been watching your days drastically decrease every day in irregular patterns, and Terry says you confirmed that you weren't sick, I wanted to ask you earlier but I didn't have the courage to, so I'm here know to find out the truth, I'm pretty damn sure you did something you shouldn't have, I can feel it and I need to know what it is."

"Well aren't you hot headed, you rushed all the way here for that?" I asked calmly with a little chuckle at her outburst.

"You really want to know?"

She nodded her head eagerly, clearly it meant something to her.

"I have no idea what you're talking about, and I can't believe you just revealed that weird ability of yours just because you think I'm dying, oh wait you know I'm dying, I didn't even know that, I'm so shocked right now Karina." I said trying play dumb and act scared at the same time.

"Drop the act of stupidity" She sighed, clearly not buying my words.

I laughed it off and smiled, she's a lot smarter than I thought she'd be"And you should drop the angel act"

"It's no act, I'm really like this, but more so towards you"

"Oh, I'm so honoured"

"I know what you're trying to do and changing the subject won't work, so just tell me, tell me why you're dying if you're not sick."

The room went silent as I stared at her, trying to decide if I should tell her or not.

"Blake..."

Before she could say anything more, I started lifting up my shirt so I could show her first.

"Woah!" She said surprised, turning around "I think you misunderstood me I don't want to see you without your clothes on"

"Stop jumping to conclusions, I'm not trying to seduce you." I said, pulling my shirt off completely. "Karina look at me"

She turned around slowly and cautiously, she looked at me as her eyes scanned me, they settled on my chest, and her eyes widened in surprise at the intricately designed analog clock with the symbol of my contract with the demon tattooed there right above my heart as it ticked down.

"Why did you do it?" She asked in a whisper.

"For my own selfish needs."

The disbelief in her eyes as she looked up to meet my eyes, and for good reason. I committed a forbidden act by forming the contract, ancient books on summoning demons were all burnt.

"Don't you dare say a word about this to anyone, especially Terry. I'm not dying anytime soon, and you need to understand that. KEEP THIS A SECRET OR SO HELP ME I WILL FEED YOU TO THE DEMONS"
