Amullette's POV:
Dr. Meadow returned again the next day, a little upset that Amullette still hadn't told Mikaya that her parents were dead.
“They are building a separate habitat for her and select other children of the Universal," Dr. Meadow finally blurted out. “The Universal is conducting a slight experiment and you have to be able to prepare Mikaya for the next transition.
Amullette looked at her in surprise.
“An experiment for what?" she asked.
“They want to build families for those orphans and give Mikaya the experience of a real colony," Dr. Meadow explained. “The habitat being built is like any other with the exception that you, along with the other adults paroled with the same task of caring for one of these children, will build the first community colony on Earth."
