Ayla stood looking intently into her mother's eyes, her heart aching with sorrow. "We can't just sell our shares away mom, Dad spent all his life building this company, there has to be some other way" Ayla's voice dripped with emotions. "He's dying Ayla" Mrs Morrison responded, the weight of grief evident in her tone. "That is the only option we have left, I hate to do this but there's no other way Ayla" Ayla knew her mother was right, accepting his offer was the only option left, there was no other way they could raise millions of dollars within a week for her father's surgery. "So when are we to sign the documents?" Ayla asked, in a tone of surrenderedness "Today, we have till 5 pm to accept his offer or lose it totally " "What!!?" The man was simply impossible. Ayla had heard rumors of him being brutal and emotionless and this just confirmed it to her. "We should call him now, before he decides to change his mind" her mother responded, picking up her phone to dial his business line. The call was answered, " Good morning, M&K Holdings on the line, how may I help you? Mrs Morrison glanced at Ayla and she nodded in encouragement. "I'm Mrs Morrison and I'd like to confirm my appointment with Mr Lucas for this evening," she said in a firm voice. "Ohh just a second, please. That's right, you do have an appointment with Mr Steve at 5 pm today" "Alright, thanks" she responded and ended the call. Just then, her cell phone rang again, it was Doctor Dylan. "Her father's doctor? Alya thought in worry, she urged her mother to pick up the call. " Hello doctor Dylan, is everything okay with my husband? "I'm afraid not Mrs. Morrison, your husband just suffered another heart attack, he doesn't have much longer… Alya felt like she'd been donned with a bucket of cold water, her heart was beating wildly. If they didn't act fast they were going to lose her father. She was so close to losing it, but she stopped herself. She had to be strong for her family this time and she'd be damned if she lets anything happen to her father. " I need to go to the hospital, I need to see him" Mrs Morrison choked on her words. " Calm down Mom, everything will be fine. You go to the hospital and I'll see Mr. Steve" Alya pronounced with determination, she was not losing her father. "Are you sure about this Alya? I could go see your father later tonight" " leave this to me Mom and take care of Dad I promise I'd handle this". "Oh my dear, I don't know what I'd do without you, I'd get to your father now, you take care of yourself " She hugged Alya, wiping at the stray tears that escaped and sprinted out. Alya watched her mother leave, she'd seen her mother cry more times in these few days than she had in her entire life, she couldn't bear to see her family break like this and if giving up the family shares were the solution then she'd gladly do it. She glanced at her gold wristwatch and realized she had just an hour left to meet with Mr Steve. She proceeded to dress up quickly, applying only a slight make-up as usual. She never really fancied putting on heavy makeup or heavy accessories. She had always preferred to look simple yet smart. She headed out after slipping on her black heeled shoes matching her two-piece clothing. Ayla stared in amazement at the magnificent building before her, the imposing glass and steel structure loomed over her, reflecting the late afternoon sun. She stepped into the building, gathering up her courage and composure, she walked up to the receptionist asking for directions to Mr Steve's office. "Take the elevator to the 30th floor, it's the first one on the right" the middle-aged woman responded, with a frosty smile Ayla muttered a thanks and headed for the elevator which she noted was also made of glass. The entire place radiated luxury and power. Soon, she got off the elevator Come in" a husky, manly voice responded. She reluctantly opened the door and her heart skipped a beat at the alluring man seated across the large luxurious office. She had heard rumors of the boss being handsome, but she wasn't fully prepared to meet this breath-taking sight. The man in front of her could have been mistaken for a model with his dark brown hair, sculpted jaw, straight nose, and broad shoulders which fit perfectly into his tailored suit. His tie was loosened a bit just enough to give that sexy look. But his eyes and composure she noted were devoid of warmth. "Are you going to come in or keep staring?" Lucas Steve's responded assessing the woman at the door. "Gooday Sir, I'm Miss Morrison" his voice had snapped her back to reality. She wasn't here to drool over him or anyone. "I assume you're here to discuss the shares" His tone was firm and authoritative. "Yes, I was hoping we could agree on an alternative to selling my father's shares. He spent all his life and efforts building the company and it's just doleful to lose the…" "Miss Morrison, I like to keep sentiments far away from a business just as it is meant to be; your father's legacy is not wasted, it would be put into maximal use." "I find the shares valuable and I want them" His firm voice responded, cutting her off. Ayla's fist clenched tightly in her palm, she breathes out deeply trying to calm herself down. It was now very obvious that he was void of emotions and that he had no feelings at all. Ayla realizing it's very close to impossible for her to work with him without going insane decides to request more time. She had to make her family aware of the emotionless jerk they were about to make a deal with. "Could you at least give us more time to make a decision?" Ayla asked "Unfortunately, my time is very much valuable to me Miss Morrison; and I see no wisdom in trying to delay your decision, given you're in a desperate situation" "You would have to sign the documents man or lose this generous offer"
