Death Didn't Take Me- Liz

439 Words
The pain was astounding. I had been hurt many times over the last two years, but this was on a new level. I am trying to get my bearings. Somebody seems to be sleeping on my hand. That is a new one.  The incident comes rushing back to me causing me to panic. I tried to open my eyes, but my eyelids are pressing.  The beeping in my ear picks up. I don't know why.  The weight on my hand clenches my hand in a comforting way. When did the weight move? Why am I so confused?  The voice of God seems to answer my questions without me asking out loud.  “ Liz, open your eyes babe. You’re ok. You are in the pack medical wing. We’re right here for you.”  My wolf is waking up with me. She's cranky and as confused as I am. I instantly hear her shouting mate...mate….mate… I don't know how to deal with all the pain and noise and let out a whine.  I am finally winning my fight against my eyes and opening them to see Calvin Wood the Alpha of another pack staring down at me.  “ Hi,” he says. I want to answer, but my voice is a mile away. My throat is raw.  Not sure if they kicked me there too. I wonder who got that shot in. Calvin hands me some water and I’m guessing between my wolf screaming mate and this hunk of a man standing over me, I've finally found my mate. I find my voice finally asking the all important question. “Bathroom?” He glances at the floor like I have asked a world ending question. He states the most embarrassing thing of my life. “You have a catheter in you.” I note that it's one of the ninety tubes stocking out of me.  “ How did you get me here? She placed a command that no one was to know of my injuries.”  He looks shocked.  “As an alpha, I can override her commands easily. She nearly killed you with that command alone”  I know it's wrong of me to ask, but I ask anyway. “Who else knows?”  His quick flash of anger tells me he knows everything.  “Most of my pack, the Dean, and the police.”  I know the police can't do anything because she is a Luna.  “I didn’t know about you or I would have stopped them long before, I swear Liz, I am beyond sorry”
