Chapter 7

1782 Words
The next morning, I woke up to a sleeping Hunter, with Snow between us. "Oh shit." I whispered. I sat up to see Demon sleeping at the foot of my bed. "Double oh shit." I whispered again. I got out of bed and looked down. "Shit." I didn't whisper this time. Now my luck has never been good, Hank and Lockwood walked in.  "What the hell?" Hank said. I stood there frozen to my spot. I didn't know what to say, or even when to do. I just froze. "Penelope Scarlet Windford, what the hell is going on here!" I could have sworn I heard him growl. "Dad, I can explain." I said in defense.  "Than start." He crossed his arms over his chest. I froze again. Oh god, oh god, oh god. That was the only thing going through my mind. "Okay, I can't. I'm sorry." I looked down at the floor. I wasn't even bothering to cover myself at this point. Everyone in this room had already seen me naked at some point. I mean, I was wounded many times already. Someone had to help the doctor with my bandages when I wasn't awake. "Hunter!" Lockwood yelled and I flinched.  Hunter woke with a start. "Wha--" He stopped realizing what was going on.  "What is going on, Hunter?" Lockwood looked just as pissed as Dad did. "Uhh-- I made her happy?" That sounded more like a question than an answer!  "Living room! Now!" Hank yelled making us both jump. Hunter and I had dressed in our pj's quickly and were now sitting in the living room with Lockwood and Hank. It was deadly silent. "Explain." Hank finally spoke. "Well, Penny was upset about the fight her and Snowflake had. When I went to go to the restroom, I found Snowflake sleeping outside my door. So, the gentleman that I am, I returned Snowflake to Penny. Penny, was still awake, so we sat and chatted for a while. We then started k-k-ki-ki-kissing and it progressed from there. We did nothing but k-k-kiss." Relief washed over me. Oh thank god. Kissing is a whole lot better than the other thing that I was thinking we did. "Is this true, Penelope?" Hank looked right at me, or his eyes never left me. I don't know. I didn't look up at them since we sat down. I knew there was only one word that could save our asses. I wouldn't call it lying. I mean, okay, I don't remember what went on last night, but Hunter seems to be telling the truth. "Yes."  "Go get dressed. Both of you." As soon as those words left Hank's mouth, Hunter and I took of like bats out of hell, straight to our rooms. I closed my door and sighed. "So if it true?" Emily asked, scaring the f**k out of me. "Is what true?" I asked, holding my hand to my heart to calm it down. "That Hunter kisses Snowflake instead of trying to kill her." "Yeah. He kissed her. She was asleep though." Snow popped out of the blanket. "He kissed me?" The look in her eyes was of pure terror.  "Yes, he did." No need to freak out about it." Her jaw fell open. "That creepy ass guy kissed me!?" "Watch your mouth young lady!" My voice was stern with her. "Sorry, but still! Ewww!!!!" "Looked like you were smiling after he kissed you." I said, in the matter of fact tone. "I probably thought it was you!" She tried to defend herself. "You were cuddled up to him this morning." Her jaw dropped to the floor."EWWWWWWW!!!!!" He voice hit a pitch that hurt my ears. "OW!" I yelled and covered my ears. "You two are fighting. I'm leaving." Emily said and immediately left my room. "It was not ew. It was cute." "No! It was not cute! It's gross!" "Will you stop yelling?! I'm trying to study!" Wolf yelled through the wall. "Sorry!" I yelled back to him. "Still, eww." Snow said, he voice became a whole lot closer to a normal tone. "No. It was cute." I had pulled out some clean clothes and started getting dressed. I have always been quick in dressing myself because of being on the swim team.  "You don't get it! You have to marry someone who has a wolf partner." Wait, what?  "Aren't I allowed to date others first?"  "No. You have to find a human who has a wolf partner."  I narrowed my eyes at her. "I will fall in love with whoever my heart says to." She growled at me. For the first time ever, she fully growled at me. "Fine! Let the wolf population die off!"  "I will than!" I yelled. She has no right to tell me that I can only marry someone with a wolf partner. Snow and one male are the only two here. His partner is totally not my type! I don't like the nerdy type. I never have. Only a man who can kick my ass will be allowed to marry me. Snow had already stormed out of my room when Wolf walked in. "Must you two fight?" "Get out." "No, talk to me." "Get out!" I got louder that time. "No, talk to me." He repeated. He never did know when to give up, did he? "GET OUT!" I screamed at him. He flinched back, but that didn't stop him. "No! Not until you talk to me."  I picked up the closest thing I could reach, it was a thick history book, I threw it at him. I missed him by a few inches. "Get out." Tears ran down my cheeks. "Pen, talk to me." He took a couple steps forward when he saw my tears. "Please just get out." I tried to wipe my tears away, but they just kept coming. He held open his arms to me. "Please talk to me."  I shook from sadness. I pushed passed him and ran straight for the attic.I sat there for a while crying. I didn't know how long I was up there for, but when I left, I couldn't cry anymore. I had no tears left to cry. I left Shadowdale Woods. I didn't care who saw me leave. I wouldn't let anyone stop me. "I will never go back there." I said to myself. It was hard living in the woods. I didn't know how to hunt, I couldn't tell the difference between good and poisonous berries. I took chances every time. Most of the time they were good. Until one bush. I swore I would never touch another berry again, but I broke that swear. I ate a red-ish purple one from the bushes. It tasted good, so I had a few more and kept walking. That alone was a stupid move. I remember my stomach hurting and throwing up a few times, but soon enough everything started going blury, then nothing. Nothing but darkness and the feeling of floating. Like I was drifting in water. I woke up next to a warm fire, with one one around. I sat up slowly. I was sore all over. I looked at the fire, but noticed that it wasn't normal. It was a projection. It was still warm though."How can I be warm if that fire is a projection?" I wondered out loud. "High tech. Don't you know that?" A young man said. At some point, he had come to sit next to the fire.  "No, sorry. I'm not from around here." He nodded. "How old are you?" "I'm 17, yourself?" "I'm 15." He's young. Why is he out here though? "Why aren't you home with your parents?" I saw his jaw twitch at my question. Maybe I shouldn't have asked. "Because I," He paused, seeming like he was looking for a reason. Strange.. "I ran away from there." He finally answered.  "That's not the real reason." I decided that I was going to be blunt, just so he knew I had my guard up. "Yeah well, I don't know you. So I don't have to tell you anything." Cheeky little s**t.  "Fine. At least tell me your name?" "You can call me by my nickname." Ugh! This short sentence s**t is killing me! "Alright." I urged him forward. "It's Soil." That's weird. Who would call someone that? "Why?" I was genuinely curious. The name was very weird and disrespectful.  "I got it when I was a kid. I was always playing in the dirt. Naturally, everyone started calling me Soil. What's your name?" He was looking at me from the corner of his eye. Normally, you look at the person you are talking to. This guy wasn't doing so. "Penelope, but just call me Pen."  "I'm going to call you Penny. I am not going to call you a Stick Dick." "Stick d**k? What's that?" "Someone with a thin d**k. Stick d**k, also referred to as Pen."  "Oh. Just call me Penny than." Dear lord! I didn't think that would make a new name for that with a nickname of mine!  "I will. Also, a white wolf was looking for you a few weeks ago." "A white wolf? A few weeks ago?" How long have I been out here?! "Yeah. She said her name was Snowflake. She said that if I found someone who is covered in stab wounds and missing two fingers on one of their hands, to tell them that she is worried and that she wants them home." "Yeah, that's me. How long have I been out?" "A month and four days." "s**t! Did she say how to contact her?" Snow's worried about me. What about Dad? Did they come looking for me too? Oh god.. What if Snow's hurt!? No. I'd feel it if she was hurt. "She said to hit you, but I am not going to do that." "No, you have to hit me!" "I will not hit you." He looked at me this time. His eyes were terrifying. Like the eyes of a murderer. Alas, I didn't care. Snow was worried. I needed to find her. "No you don't understand, you need to hit me." "No. Just call her name. She will come." "She won't hear me if she's not within hearing distance. You need to hit me. We are better together than we are apart." "I don't understand you at all."  "Just trust me. Hit me, as hard as you can. Please." He shook his head and stood up next to an already standing me. He took a deep breath. "Sorry." He said, then punched me as hard as he could in the stomach. I cried out in pain. "T-thank you." I groaned. I held my sore stomach for a while, waiting, watching for someone I knew to come get me. "Are you sure it worked?" Soil asked, again, only looking at me from the corner of his eye. "Yeah. No matter how far apart we are, she will always know when I am hurt." "It's been an hour since I hit you. She still hasn't shown up." He was doubtful. It sounded forced though. Weird guy. "She will. I know she will." I was going to remain positive. She will find me.
