For two years she and Akeim had ruled with an iron fist, destroying anyone loyal to the dead Pharaoh and his daughter. There were executions being held almost daily, coupled with a strange disease of the blood and even stranger disappearances it was death that truly ruled over Egypt.
The Sun was low in the sky when she returned to her chambers, the last of the men loyal to her late husband had finally been dispatched to the Underworld where they belonged. The air was still and dry. Something about it made the hair on her body stand on end. She made her way uneasily to her bed and lay across it.
“Murder is exhausting, isn’t it, Stepmother?” an eerily familiar voice hissed from the shadows. She sat straight up, her eyes darting from shadow to shadow, looking for the source of the voice. Fear rose in the pit of her stomach as she continued to look for the voice. Then her eyes landed on a deathly pale figure and bile rose in her throat.
“I can’t be.” She gasped.
Anuxsous sauntered gracefully into view a wicked and savage smile on her lips.
“Oh, but it very much is, Stepmother.” She growled, taking a step forward. Anuxsous’ head was low, her movements slow and calculating as she stalked the woman before her.
“Demon!” The older woman screamed as she ran to her chamber door. Anuxsous was suddenly before her, an arm outstretched grasping for her. Her talon-like fingers cut into the soft flesh of her stepmother’s throat. She could feel the warm blood trickle down her arm. Rage and hunger shone brightly in her eyes. She inhaled deeply and growled.
“Your fear stinks, Stepmother.” She said in a deadly whisper unsheathing her venomous fangs.
“Wh-what are you?” The older woman stammered. Her eyes welled with tears as she looked pleadingly at Anuxsous.
“I am Justice, for all you have wronged, Anhkshay.” Anuxsous whispered into the woman’s ear before sinking her fangs into her neck.
Suddenly a sharp pain hit her and spread from between her shoulder blades, causing her to fling her stepmother’s limp body across the room. She turned to face the source of her pain and saw Him. A sinister smile spread across his face as he looked down at her.
“Didn’t my brother ever teach you not to play with your food?” he drawled
“Michael,” she snarled and squared her shoulders to face him. He sneered at her as he circled her.
“It’s nice to see one of Lucifer’s experiments succeed. Normally, the gift drives his pets insane. He has to wind up putting the poor creature down.” He chuckled, closing in on her before she could blink. Before she knew what had happened his hands were on her body, his nose buried deep in her hair.
“You, however, are the very picture of perfection.” His hands slid over her skin util they were cupping her breasts. “Seeing you again, it takes me back to that night.” He whispered in her ear. He slid his hand down further until it was resting between her legs. A soft moan escaped from her before she remembered just who was touching her. A feral snarl ripped from her as she took hold of him and with all of her strength and speed she flipped him over her shoulder. He landed on his back with a hard thud that seemed to shake the very walls.
“You’re powerful,” He said in slight shock, “Good.”
He shot up with preternatural speed and hit her square in the chest. The blow hit her with such force it knocked her back off her feet. The sound of her hitting the wall behind her was of thunder. A crack split the granite wall. Another wild snarl ripped through her as she launched herself at him. The hit sent sparks flying as the two supernatural beings clashed. They sprung apart. Anuxsous spat blood from her mouth and looked at him with a satisfied smile.
“First Blood.” She called, her eyes gleaming red and her fangs dripping. He chuckled and wiped the blood from his cheek.
“As much as I would love to stay and play, I now have a pet to raise.” His voice echoed from the dark.
Before she could blink he was gone, taking her stepmother’s barely breathing carcass with him.
“f**k!” she screamed into the empty dark void
