Chapter 7

Leon’s POV The clock on the dashboard glowed exactly 5:00 PM as I eased my sleek black car to a stop in front of the exclusive boutique. I killed the engine and tossed the keys to the waiting valet, who bowed deeply with practiced respect before sliding behind the wheel and driving it away. I strolled into the building with deliberate ease, shoulders back, chin high. The moment I crossed the threshold, the atmosphere shifted. Staff members bowed their heads instantly. Whispers rippled through the air, and every head in the store turned in my direction. I caught the soft, admiring swoons from clusters of women and the unmistakable click of camera shutters capturing my every move. “Welcome, Alpha Leon,” a polished young woman in her twenties greeted me with a bright, professional smile. She wore a short black skirt paired with a crisp suit jacket, her dark hair styled in a neat, elegant bun. “It’s an honor to have you here today. What would you like?” I glanced briefly at the name tag pinned neatly to her jacket. “Well, Veronica,” I said, my voice smooth but carrying that natural Alpha authority, “I need you to do me a favor.” She led me toward the private VIP lounge, her heels clicking softly against the marble floors. “Of course, Alpha. I’d be more than happy to help. Please, make yourself comfortable and have a seat.” I dropped onto the plush velvet couch, crossing one leg over the other. Veronica stood attentively in front of me, hands clasped politely. “What would you like me to do for you, Alpha?” Without saying a word, I reached into my breast pocket and pulled out my phone. I opened the gallery, scrolled through several photos, and stopped on a flattering picture of Chloe. I turned the screen toward her with a slight, charming smile. “I need something suitable for her. Something elegant… special.” Veronica studied the image carefully, her eyes lighting up. A faint blush crept up her cheeks. “Oh, she’s absolutely stunning. You have such a beautiful wife, Alpha. She’ll look incredible in anything we pick.” I forced a warm smile and nodded, even though the word “wife” felt oddly heavy on my tongue. “Thank you. She deserves the best.” “Would you like a cup of coffee and some cookies while you wait?” she offered kindly. “Our chef just baked a fresh batch.” I declined at first, but a few minutes later, a steaming cup of rich, aromatic coffee and a delicate plate of warm cookies appeared anyway. I sipped slowly, the bitterness grounding me as my leg tapped a restless rhythm against the floor. To keep my mind occupied, I scrolled through Facegram, half-expecting and half-dreading, to see some explosive post from Summer. But there was nothing. Not yet. That silence brought a flicker of relief… but it also unsettled me more than I wanted to admit. Knowing her, this wasn’t surrender. She was planning something bigger and the waiting gnawed at my nerves. “I’ve found the perfect selection, Alpha Leon,” Veronica announced brightly a short while later. She returned carrying several elegant garments draped carefully over her arm and laid them out on the low table in front of me. The fabrics shimmered under the soft lighting… silks, satins, and delicate embellishments. “Put them on,” I instructed with an easy smile. “You have a similar build and height to her. I want to see how they look on a real person.” She hesitated for a brief second, surprise flashing across her face, but quickly recovered. “Of course, Alpha. I’ll be right back.” While she changed, my phone buzzed insistently. Chloe’s name lit up the screen with a string of worried messages. I stared at the words for a long moment, guilt twisting sharply in my chest, before shutting the screen off. Chloe had been nothing but loving and supportive. She didn’t deserve the chaos swirling in my head. Veronica returned, modeling each dress one by one with graceful professionalism. We discussed details…colors that would flatter Chloe’s skin tone, the way certain fabrics moved, how elegant or bold each piece felt. After going through all the options and narrowing them down, I made my final choices. “These will be perfect,” I told her, satisfied. I wired the transfer immediately… two hundred thousand credits in total. Money was never the issue. I stepped out of the boutique with my bodyguard carrying the elegant shopping bags. The late afternoon sun felt warm on my skin as we approached the curb. My phone rang again. This time it was my most trusted Beta. I answered immediately, tension coiling tight in my shoulders. “Tell me you have something good.” “I’ve gone through every single CCTV feed in the city and checked every hospital record,” he said, sounding exhausted. “I hired three different private investigation teams. But… we can’t find her anywhere, Alpha. It’s like she vanished into thin air.” I stopped walking, irritation flaring hot in my veins. “What the hell do you mean she vanished? I gave you millions in resources and you’re standing there telling me you’ve got nothing? She didn’t just evaporate!” He sighed heavily on the other end of the line. “The name Summer Rain doesn’t show up in any public records, Leon. No birth certificate, no pack registration, nothing. It’s almost like she never existed at all.” A dark, bitter chuckle ripped through my throat. “You must be f*****g insane,” I uttered, my voice deceptively calm even as cold fury simmered beneath it. The valet had already pulled up with my car and stopped smoothly right in front of me. He stepped out and handed the keys over with a respectful bow. I didn’t even look at him. My attention stayed locked on the useless report coming through the phone. “I don’t want to hear this nonsense anymore. Find her and bring her back to me. That’s a f*****g order. You’re not trying hard enough…try harder!” I ended the call abruptly, my jaw clenched so tightly it ached, and shoved the phone back into my pocket with more force than necessary. “You,” I said, turning sharply to my bodyguard. I tossed the keys toward him. He caught them cleanly. “Drop the bags in the trunk. You’re driving.” He nodded without question and moved to follow my orders. I yanked open the rear door and slid into the car, the cool leather creaking under my weight. As we pulled away from the boutique and merged into city traffic, I scrolled to Summer’s contact again. Her name stared back at me like a challenge. I pressed dial and the call disconnected instantly with that cold, robotic voice: The user does not exist. I tried again and again…the same result every single time. I sent multiple texts, no response. I searched Facegram, Wolftok, and every other platform I could think of, nothing. It was as if she had been completely wiped from existence. “How is this even possible?” I muttered under my breath, frustration boiling over. “How can one woman cause me this much trouble in just two damn days? How hard is it to find a single person in this city?” “f**k!” I finally snapped, hurling my phone across the backseat. It bounced off the leather and landed on the floor with a dull thud. I dragged both hands down my face, breathing hard, the weight of everything crashing down on me.
