This shot made me jump in the air, and the crack of the gunfire reverberated among the open spaces. But on looking at the target, there was nothing, not even a spot on the body of the dummy. My shot was all over the place.
Frustration shattered me.
“Nice shot,” Ralph told me, and I could tell that was a lie. “But you have to practice your aim. It is your first time, so there is no need to discourage you.”
He moved towards me as he said that, and got as close as he could, bringing himself behind me. Too close. I could feel the warmth of his body on my back, I could feel his breathe on my neck when he leaned in. There was something wrong about it. Not like our training sessions. More intimate.
“Here” his voice was lower now, a sort of murmur to my ear. "Let me show you."
