The first night was awkward.
Not the falling asleep part — I was exhausted, and he was warm, and the bond between us hummed with contentment when we were close. The awkward part was figuring out where everyone was going to sleep.
"You take the bed," I told him, gathering a blanket from the closet. "You're huge. You won't fit on the pull-out."
He looked at the couch. Looked at me. "Where will you sleep?"
"On the pull-out. It's fine, I've done it before."
"No."
"Fao—"
"No." He crossed his arms — a gesture he'd picked up remarkably fast. "You sleep in the bed. I will take the pull-out."
"You literally won't fit. Your legs will hang off by like two feet."
"Then I will sleep on the floor."
"You're not sleeping on the floor."
"You're not sleeping on the pull-out."
