"Wait." I stared at Trevor's texts again, my panic receding as logic kicked in. "Wait, wait, wait."
Fao was still growling behind me, his whole body tense and ready for a fight.
"He doesn't know where I live." I let out a shaky laugh. "Trevor doesn't know where the cabin is. He's never been here. I moved out here after we broke up, and I never told him the address."
The growling continued.
"Fao." I turned to face him, putting my hands on his chest. "He's bluffing. He's trying to scare me into responding. It's what he does."
Those golden eyes were still blazing, fixed on the phone in my hand like he wanted to rip it apart.
"Hey." I cupped his face, forcing him to look at me. "He can't hurt me. He doesn't know where I am. Okay?"
