A New Hope

Chapter 4

We walked down to the beach hand in hand in a comfortable silence. I loved the ocean and the way it made my heart sing. I paused to take off my flats so I could have my toes in the sand and almost moaned as I felt the still warm sand underneath me. I haven't been to a beach in over a year and that was a year too long. I lived on the west coast and the east coast of Canada but the oceans and beaches there weren't comparable. I always found myself to bounce from in land back to the ocean, but never the same town, always new faces. I kept touch with a few friends and they'd always be confused why I would move back to the same province but not the same town. Its like I've always been searching for something and never finding it.

I breathed in the salty air and was hypnotized by the ocean waves calmly crashing onto the shore. I felt a calm smile on my face and looked up at Gabriel. He was smiling down at me with adoring eyes.

"Hope, you deserve it and even more, and if you stick around me you're gonna get used to it. Honestly I've never felt a connection like this to any woman before." he looked at me sternly like he needed me to believe those words and he'd do anything to prove it.

"I haven't either... but you know to a man" I said playfully as I tugged his hand to walk towards the water.

The water was warm unlike the Canadian oceans. I dropped Gabriel's hand and walked in a little deeper. He watched me wandering if I was gonna go for a swim. Then I kicked the water at him, splashing him making him let out a shocked gasp. Before he could react anymore I ran away down the beach and I could hear him chase after me.

I laughed as I ran faster. I don't work out or go for runs but I've always loved running on the beaches and often out ran everyone else on the sand. Our villa? He couldn't really mean that. Its hard to believe that he'd want me to keep sticking around.
