THOR Dextera stared at me in silence, the shadows of everything she’d endured still heavy in her eyes. “Thank you,” she muttered instead of answering me. I leaned forward slightly. That wasn’t what I wanted to hear. So, it didn't count. “I don't think that's the response I asked for,” I said, reigning in my anger. “Thank you,” she repeated softly. Though it sounded more like a plea than gratitude as she took hesitant steps toward me, almost stumbling. It took everything in me not to bark, not to lash out in frustration at her deflection. But Aero was quicker. ‘Respond to her first,’ he stated calmly inside me. ‘And you’ll get somewhere from there. Being patient doesn't kill.’ I exhaled, trying to relax the tension gripping my spine. “What for?” “For standing up for me,” she said.
