Chapter Sixteen The next morning Caroline was alarmed to find Joe and Lizzy alone in the kitchen. Joe was gleefully munching toast and slurping coffee by the back door and listening to his sister-in-law chatter on, as she bustled around in a tiny dressing gown. As Caroline entered they both gave her a cheery grin. Lizzy bounced over to switch on the kettle and then wrapped her arms around Caroline in a warm hug. “Morning Caro. Sit down.
