Chapter Eight
Caroline met Mary in a café close to her office. They’d decided to go for a late lunch to avoid the rush and managed to secure prime spot by the window.
They caught up on the minutiae of their lives. Mary was having some landscaping done and counted off the successes and failures of various seedlings she was nurturing for her new flower beds. Caroline explained the numerous difficulties which had arisen on her latest advertising campaign.
After the waitress had taken their order and brought drinks, Caroline told her friend about the conversation she’d had the previous evening with Harry, and filled Mary in on why he and Lizzy were staying with her.
