Chapter Twenty On Thursday evening Caroline arrived at Mary’s wondering if she had made a mistake by accepting her invitation to meet Bailey. Her worries were not allayed when she was introduced to a rather dumpy, bald little man. She couldn’t help thinking he looked more like a bus driver than a man with contacts in international espionage. Over coffee she explained in detail what had happened so far, while Bailey took careful notes. When she had described everything she could remember, he asked a series of very detailed questions which elicited further information from her which she had unwittingly left out.
