Aramis tried to speak but nothing came out. He could still breathe, but his vocal cords obeyed him as well as his muscles did; not at all. The priest pulled his hood back and Aramis was greeted by the familiar face of the man who murdered his father. His vision hazed as his rage boiled over. Despite his raw emotions, he still couldn’t break free of the spell. He vaguely heard the sounds of fighting. Mel needed his help and yet he was useless. “The new king is searching for you. He will kill you when he finds you. I wonder how angry he would be if I took that joy from him?” The priest continued talking, seemingly more to himself than to Aramis. “We serve the same god, but we all have different interests, you see?” He tapped his chin as if contemplating something. “I shall not kill you yet.
