Mel summoned his sword and walked further into the cave, disappearing into the darkness. A few moments later, he returned. Aramis looked up and Mel had his finger pressed against his lips. “There’s a bear in there,” Mel said softly, motioning with his hand. “And she has cubs. If we stay quiet, we shouldn’t bother them too much. The storm should pass by quickly judging by the power of the wind.” Aramis nodded wordlessly and unsheathed his sword. He set it beside him just in case. They sat resting in silence for several minutes before Aramis heard something. Instinctively, he grabbed his sword and stood up. Mel did the same.
