On Death's Door Step

Danny’s POV

    Huh I thought for sure she would be here? Isn’t she supposed to be cleaning... She’d never miss her duties. I stood on the grounds were the dance was held last night. It was early but, I thought for sure she would be cleaning till the late morning and came to help. Wait, the grounds...they...they aren’t done?! I had a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, this was not like her! I shifted and smelled around not caring about my now shredded clothes.

    I sniffed around... I found her! I also smell… Rachel, Josh and Jared? OH GODDESS! What did they do to her now! I noticed the scent was old and fading I wasted no time trying to find her. She probably ran from them and hid. The scents led me to the woods, and it seemed as though they chased her. I walk up to the cliff where Roxy came to relax… my heart sank as I approach the scent of blood is overwhelming!

    Upon the ground lay my best friend in a pool of her own blood! The sight of her limp, lifeless body, covered in blood will haunt me forever! I howled out in pain, alerting the pack!

    I ran to her and gently threw her body over my shoulder! I ran faster than ever through the woods! Hold on girly you’re fine, you’re ok… I know it! You have to be! I entered the edge of the woods and was about to mind link her mother but she was already stand there. Multiple other members were standing with her to see the commotion that caused my howl. 

    The new Alpha Zane and his family were too. I got to the grounds and ran straight to her mother. I shifted; holding the limp body gently in my arms. Blood dripped down from her large gashes. Her mother let out a blood curdling scream and cried out “MY BABY”. She ran over to her body horrified! Zane was also quick to run up.

Zane’s POV

    A pack member’s painful howl could be heard deep from within the woods but, it woke half the pack. Most followed out to see what happened and there a horrific sight laid before me. Danny the packs tech guy carrying my mate in his arms… she looked dead! Her mother screamed out and ran to her.

    ‘MATE NO! MATE NOT DEAD!’ Z cried out. I couldn’t control it I ran to her screaming out “NO! WHO DID THIS?!”.

    My mother and father along with the pack gasped! My mother joined me next to Danny.. After last night I decided today I would tell her I accept her I didn’t care what others had to say about it. Now it was too late… she was brutally injured and dying in front of me!

    I ignored Danny and her mother picking her up out of his arms and ran toward the doctor. She looked like a bloody corpse and felt like dead weight. I ran into the pack house screaming for the doctor! I put her down on a medical table and the doctor was quick to shoo us out; only her mother allowed stay to help. I paced outside anxiously. Z was crying and making everything worse. Who did this too her?

    My parents arrived and my mother tried to calm me down “Son please relax you’ll stress yourself out like this! When did you know?”

    “The day I arrived but I didn’t do anything mom! I was worried what everyone would think! Then we danced and I couldn’t help it I love her already...I need her to be okay! Mom tell me she’ll be okay!”

    “Honey I don’t kn-”

     My father cut off my mother! “What? You’re talking as if she’s your ma-No! None of this nonsense you are to reject her! She is a bastard of that horrible beast you will not be her mate! I command you!”

    His words enraged me “COMMAND ME? I AM ALPHA NOW FATHER! I will do as I please and she has done nothing to prove disloyalty to the pack! I’ve heard that all she does is take abuse and she’s still a member of this pack!”

    His eye turned pitch black you couldn’t even see his pupils. He started breathing heavily trying to control an angered shift. My mother was able to calm him down slightly… He punched the wall and left with a huff. Thank goddess… I was worried he would fight me on this.  

    I sat outside with Danny for what seemed like hours! We didn’t speak and sat in an awkward and solemn silence. Then her mother stepped out, her scrubs were covered in blood. She gestured that we could go in. There was blood being mopped up on the floor they had to do emergency surgery there on spot. They had moved her to a bed.

     She was hooked up too many machines… she laid there still; she looked like a corpse. Her mother spoke up “She’s alive and she’ll make it, but it’ll take a few days for her to wake. Her body is badly wounded and was…dead when she came here. She had to be resuscitated…” Her mother began to cry.

    Danny comforted her mother while I kneeled next to her bed.

    ‘She- she almost died mate almost died...she was dead! But she’ll make it! She has too!’ Z sadly exclaimed.

    I haven’t even gotten the chance to really know her yet or feel her lips on mine! I shouldn’t have left last night but I didn’t want to bother her while working. As well that wolf Rachel wasn’t leaving me alone. I had to hide in my room to get away from her.

    With tears in my eyes I felt my heart breaking looking at her like this. I took her hand softly and she barely had a pulse. I won’t leave her side till she wakes no one will hurt her again! Not on my watch. She will get better and I’ll make sure of it! “No one will ever hurt you while I'm here sweet princess” I whispered to her.
