Chapter 12

1321 Words
Raven's POV "The stuff belonged to my brother, but that dead body isn't him," Meisha said to the investigator. She already returned to her usual state when we arrived at the police station. She talked to the police officer with utmost certainty that her brother was still alive. We also met the professor who went with Mika for this exhibit. She came with the Dean of the Art Department to get the follow-up report regarding Mika's missing case. The professor was crying and kept asking Meisha for forgiveness. Meisha and Lily assured her that everything's fine and no one was and will be blaming her for what happened. They told her to go home since Meisha's already here to take care of the report. The professor was reluctant so Lily talked to her. I don't know what Lily said to the Dean and professor but the two looked relieved and left the station quietly. Meisha already gave her statement to the police, but the investigator wants to question her again. Meisha tilted her head to the left and looked at the officer with a cold expression, which surprised me. "Do everything you can to find him, or else my father will deal with you all." "Is she threatening the officer of the law?" I whispered to Lily. This is the first time that I saw Meisha looking serious. "She is. She has to. If the police won't do their job well in finding her brother, then she will have no choice but to ask for help from her parents, which is the last thing she would wanted to do." Lily explained like it was just a normal thing. The investigator anxiously agreed to Meisha, trying to appease her mood, and escorted her out. "Who's their parents?" I whispered again to Lily. "The investigator seemed nervous just talking to her." "R Country's Supreme Marshal Maxim Romanov, and Marchioness Nastya Angeloff." She said and headed to Meisha. "Whoa, how powerful. Is she a part of noble family?" I asked, following suit. "If so, then they should have bodyguards following them, right?" Meisha heard my question and was the one who answered. "Mika and I hated being followed, so we told our parents that we can manage without bodyguards. And besides, no one knows our real identity or that they're our parents, except you, Lily, and some other friends." Lily massaged her temple. "Ugh, this is the first time Mika went gone without hints. What should we do?" Meisha sighed. "The police are slow. I'll probably ask for her help, or them, whoever is free." Then she stared at Lily. "No need to aid me on this one. I heard you two will be moving out so just focus on it. Jaunette's been free lately. I'll definitely ask her to lend me a hand on this matter." I was bewildered listening to them. "Her who?" I looked at Lily for answer but she only shrugged at me. Meisha held my hand and smiled at me weakly. "Thanks for caring for my brother. I'll take it from here. You two could go home now and continue packing. I'll see you soon." She said, invading the question. "We'll be going first then," Lily said. "You can use my car." Meisha offered as she took the keys from her pockets. "It's fine. We will just take the bus back." Lily refused, grabbing my hand and pulled me outside. Meisha was laughing at my surprised face. I could only wave goodbye at her before we went to the bus stop on the other side of the street. Three days passed, I haven't gotten any news from Meisha. Lily was a bit busy at the university so she's always away. I'm left at home, playing online games, reading, sleeping, practicing my archery and baking. Lilibeth taught me how to bake when we just started living together. She taught me what types of pastry could be paired with different kinds of tea. Hence the habit of preparing afternoon tea. Days later, I was helping Lilibeth prepare some donuts and cupcakes for her co-workers. Who would have thought that the paperwork she's working on was for her resignation procedure? She resigned from her post as a university administrator at her alma mater, the Equinox University. "Lala and Mathilde called me earlier, asking if they could take you on a trip." Lily said while glazing the donuts. The two haven't given up on requesting for a birthday celebration with me that they even bothered Lilibeth. "Should I go see them before my birthday or not? I have an alibi though if I don't want to go." I asked Lily as I squeezed some icing on top of the cupcakes. Lily and I were already done packing our stuff. The house was almost empty, except for the things in the kitchen, some boxes, and some of our clothes. There will be a moving company who will help us with our things, including Lilibeth's precious collection of tea sets. "Go meet them this weekend." She answered while taking out the newly baked cupcakes from the oven. I squeezed the piping bag too hard, spilling the icing on the tray. "Why? Can't I just stay at home?" "Well, we'll be leaving on the day before your birthday, and I remembered that you mentioned that they're going to be busy. So, why don't you just go and celebrate your birthday in advance with them? We don't know when you three could meet again and have fun outside." She said, wiping the smudge of icing that was on my forehead. "Alright." I pouted. As much as I don't want to celebrate my birthday, I still have to repay Lala and Mathilde's kindness to me, in some ways. They're like big sisters to me. Two big immature sisters. And besides, I've been rejecting their invitation for two years now. I guess it's time for me to have fun for a day, with them. When I went to my room that night, I decided to call them to inform our appointment, and also to tell them that we're moving. "Mathilde speaking," Lala said when the call was connected. "You can't fool me, Lala. What's up?" I said, rolling my eye. "Don't roll your eyes at me," Lala said while giggling. "It's on speaker. We're listening, hurry!" I'm still thinking of what to say. I'm really not good at socializing. I really wonder how we became friends and why they wanted me to be their friend. Well, here goes nothing. "I was just gonna ask where will we go this weekend?" I asked almost inaudibly. The phone became silent. I looked at it to see if it was still connected. It was. "Hello?" The other line was quiet. Then suddenly there was a loud bang and Lala's voice saying 'ouch'. The phone sounded like it was taken from the table and then someone said. "Tell us what time your good to go and we'll pick you up. Prepare some clothes and other essential stuff for camping." It was Mathilde on the other line. "What happened to Lala?" I asked. "Meh, dumbass fell because of excitement." Mathilde said then I heard a smack and Lala's voice again saying 'that hurts!' She probably kicked her. I could only laugh at their antics. They always get physical to the point of injury but doesn't get pissed with each other and just shrugged it off. "And another news, I just wanted to say that we will be moving out. I don't know where, Lily haven't told me yet." I added. It became quiet again. I looked at the phone to make sure the call wasn't disconnected. Then I heard Lala, "We'll talk about it this weekend. You take a rest now, it's late. Bye." She said, blowing a kiss. "See you, kid," Mathilde said. I only hummed in response before the line clicked off.
