Raven's POV
The days went by peacefully.
I am slowly adjusting to the life in a dormitory since it's my first time being away from home.
Lilibeth visited me yesterday. She brought groceries and other necessities, and also cleaned my dorm.
I don't have any problems with the lessons. Hate to brag, but although I joined the semester halfway, I'm a fast learner. As long as no one disrupts my rhythm or pull me out to cut classes, getting the highest rank is as easy as pie.
"Good morning, Miss Black. Here's your breakfast." Adelaide said as she placed the breakfast on my dining table. We don't have classes today since it's SEIA's Foundation Day. The student body decided to open the gates to invite outsiders for the school festival.
I went home last weekend and came upon a busy Miss Harley planning for today's events.
"How about giving a 100,000 PHP prize to the most outstanding booth?" She blurted out the moment I entered the library. "Too small?"
Hyperion was signing some reports. When he heard her, he threw a crumpled paper at Miss Harley, hitting her on the back of her head.
"Hey!" Miss Harley let out a yelp.
"Do you think money could solve everything?" Hyperion hissed.
"What? What do you suggest should I give to them? A full-expense paid trip to Heaven?" Miss Harley joked. "And besides, they could use the money to upgrade their clubs or whatever."
"You know what? I always questioned myself why am I still by your side 'til now." Hyperion face was blank.
"Because you can't resist me, and you can't live without me." Miss Harlequin said as she blew a kiss at him.
I just stood there, watching them bickering. Sometimes, I don't get how the minds of rich people work. Or is it just Miss Harley?
When they finally paid attention to me, they let me join them on making the program.
"Raven, did you joined any club? Every Friday is scheduled for Club and I was thinking if you probably joined one yesterday?" Miss Harley asked.
I told her that I was still thinking of what club to join and Adelaide was asking me to join The Oeuvre. Maybe the school festival would help me decide.
"The school paper? Well, it's not a bad idea, too. I heard that the Investigatory Department of The Oeuvre still had some vacancy. Maybe Miss Gilberts need a hand." Was what she said.
So I've decided to pay The Oeuvre a visit today.
"Adelaide, can you accompany me to the office of The Oeuvre?" I asked her when I had my breakfast.
Adelaide's eye sparkled. She was sitting opposite me so she leaned across the table, face bright like an excited puppy. "You'll join the school paper???"
"I-I'll try to take a look." I was startled and almost choked on my food.
Adelaide was encouraging me to hurry eating. The gate's will be opened at 9 and it's already 8:40. The Oeuvre's booth might be jam-packed since they're having a maid & butler café. "There's no one at their office right now so we will just go straight to their booth." She said excitedly.
I don't know why she's so excited to recruit me to The Oeuvre. People looked at us with curiosity as Adelaide almost dragged me towards the parking area for scooters. She bought one to use as a transportation inside the campus. She said being a student assistant to the Headmistress was tiring due to the errands on every part of the school, delivering documents and such, so she purchased one with a basket at the front.
And speaking of dragging, Adelaide has been holding my hand for a while now. I discovered that this new ability I had affects only each person once. Adelaide always had the chance to hold my hand or touch it lightly but I only saw the color once and it was when she borrowed a pen.
"S-Slow down, Adelaide." I complained when she drove the scooter recklessly.
She giggled. "Sorry~"
All of the students in SEIA were required to join a club, so instead of having the booths by section, it was a tradition to have booths by club. They set up the booths in front of the gate since the soccer field was far away for the outsiders to travel. And besides, the soccer field was occupied with an obstacle course and stations for games, and a stage for the battle of the bands.
When we arrived to where The Oeuvre's booth located, it was already 9 and there' already a long line of customers.
"A cosplay butler & maid café?" I said to Adelaide.
She parked the scooter at a curve and grinned. "Most club members of The Oeuvre are cosplayers, hence this kind of theme."
Adelaide opened the door and was greeted by a guy in a butler suit. He was tall, had a black hair and red eyes. He smiled at us. "Welcome to The Oeuvre Café. Table for two?"
"Good morning, Reginald. Where's Miss V? I would like to talk to her about Raven's application to The Oeuvre." Adelaide said while roaming her gaze inside the makeshift café.
The café was pretty cute. It had so many posters, action figures, mangas, and standees where customers could play or take photos, or buy the items displayed.
"Oh, she's at the back, baking the cakes." He said, pointing at the door with a "Staff Only" sign.
"Thanks." She saluted at the guy named Reginald. She then pulled me towards the room the guy pointed and kicked it open, startling me.
We then went inside. She had this triumphant look on her face but when she turned to look at me and saw my shocked look, she paused, covered her mouth, and said in her little voice. "Sorry~ I must have used a lot of force."
The students inside the makeshift kitchen of the café stopped what they're doing because of the commotion Adelaide made. I could only mentally facepalm as she wave her hands at them and asked. "Have you seen Miss V? I would like to talk to her about something."
Everyone pointed behind us. Adelaide looked at where they were pointing and gasped. "Miss V! What on earth are you doing over there?"
The one she was referring as Miss V was standing on the side of the door, cake flour all over her face, making her look like an alive marshmallow. She wiped her eyes gingerly and calmly reprimanded Adelaide. "How many times do I have tell you, stop destroying the doors. And also, why are you even here? You should be outside as a maid."
Adelaide frowned playfully at Miss V. "I brought you fresh meat." She pouted while pointing at me.
I suddenly felt awkward when Miss V gave me a once-over. Miss V doesn't look bad too. She's taller than me by a few centimeters, I guess. Although she's covered in flour, I could tell that she's pretty, too. Her wavy auburn hair was now white with flour.
She looked at me straight in the eyes then turned around. "Take her to Bly. The investigatory team needs a hand."
We went back outside where the waiting area for the butlers and maids was located. When we entered the tent, everyone looked at us except for the girl named Blyneia.
"Miss Gilberts, pardon my intrusion but Miss V told me that I should leave Raven in your care." Adelaide said
Blyneia looked at us. She was sucking on a lollipop, wearing a maid outfit and a poker-face. Her wig was a long black straight hair, with bangs and thick wisp of short hair on the sides. Her eyes a glistening red.
Blyneia took the lollipop from her mouth and waved it at us. She looked like she was shooing us away.
"We'll talk about it tomorrow. I'll personally talk to the Headmistress about her club admission." She said this while staring at Adelaide. "But first, we should focus on the school festival now, before anything else."
