When my eyes finally opened, I was met with a spotless white ceiling.
"Chelsy, you are awake." I heard the relieved voice of a woman.
My closest friend Olivia was seated in a chair next to my bed when I turned to look at her.
"Olivia... Where am I?" I questioned in a raspy voice.
After saying, "You are in the pack's hospital," she offered me a drink of water.
"Which pack?" I worriedly inquired.
She proclaimed, "My pack, the Silent Prowlers Pack."
I exhaled a breath of calm. At least it was in a familiar place.
She handed me some water, which I sipped and said, "Who brought me here?" I didn't remember anything at all. My last memory was collapsing close to the border of the Red Claw Pack.
"Did Leo bring me here?" Recalling mindlinking Leo, my Beta, I questioned her.
"Yup, After you mindlinked him, he became frantic and rushed out to search for you," she said.
The question was, "Then what happened?"
"He said he found you unconscious, on the side of the road and quickly brought you here since it's the closest to the Red Claw Pack," added Olivia.
"What's the matter with me?" Why did I faint?"
"You were hurt and had a fever," she remarked.
A fever? Must be because I had to kneel in the fierce wind and get completely soaked.
She said, "Char, what happened?"
"What do you mean?" I feigned ignorance of her meaning.
"Why did you come back after three years of no news?" Her large eyes were fixed on me, and I noticed hesitation in them.
I casually told her, "I'm going to break my matebond with Altmann."
I was surprised that she didn't appear horrified.
She enquired, "Is it because of the rumor?"
False report? "What rumour?"
She was obviously embarrassed to tell me, but she continued, "The whole continent heard about you pushing Cindy Thompson' off the cliff because of jealousy, and she miscarried because of it."
I got stuck. "The whole continent knows?"
Yes. You are unfit to be their Luna, the Red Claw Pack members remarked.
I grinned. "That pitch she travels quickly." "What do you mean, Dylan? She questioned, clearly perplexed.
"Do you believe the rumor?" I enquired. Three years had passed since Had seen her and gotten in touch with her. Would she think I was real or would she trust the rumor?
Her eyes rolled. "Obviously not. You are someone I know. Not even in a jealous state would you act in that way. Altmann would probably not believe you, therefore you would probably slap him.
That someone at least believed me comforted me.
I told her everything I had done that day, including how Altmann had thought I was being framed by Cindy, how I had to kneel until I had acknowledged my error, and so on.
I also told her that for the last three years that I had been in Red Claw Pack, Milla and Cindy had been treating me more like an Omega than a Luna, and that Altmann had only been using me and preferred Cindy.
"Altmann, that bastard and those bitches! He ought to have rejected you and not treated you that way if he didn't love you." Olivia uttered harsh words.
Furious, she went on, "That b***h Cindy must have asked people to spread the ru-mor!"
was delighted by how quickly her facial expressions and feelings altered, going from relief to hesitation, embarrassment, perplexity, and finally rage.
"Are you okay, Char?" she worriedly enquired.
I reassured her, "Don't worry about me; I'm fine.” I
"Are you really going to break your matebond with Hạy-den?" She gave me a look that suggested she didn't think I could succeed.
"You don't believe that I can do it?" I pretended to be shocked.
She gave an ashamed "It's not that" response. "I understand how much you adore Altmann, that's all. You even abandoned your belongings, including your rucksack, to spend time with Hina."
"I no longer love him," aloofly hold her.
When he had me kneel and demanded that I own up to my "mistakes," my love for him vanished.
"Are you serious? That's excellent. She exhaled a breath of relief and remarked, "He doesn't deserve your love."
"Don't you think I should be sad? You know, I'm going to break my mate-bond," I made fun of her.
She rolled her eyes and added, "It's better not to have a mate than to have a bastard as a mate."
Hearing her say that made me laugh. She was right when she said that. Altmann is a bastard, and I must be blind to have stayed with him for three years while he was spending more time and showing more affection for another lady.
Unexpectedly, we heard murmurs coming from outside the ward.
A female voice inquired, "Have you heard about the Luna of the Red Claw Pack?"
"She made her sister-in-law miscarry by pushing her off the cliff. She is really cruel!" a second woman retorted.
They continued to gossip until they stopped speaking and vanished.
"Those bitches!" Olivia got to her feet and started to chastise them, but I stopped her.
"Stay still," I advised her.
How come you stopped me? Olivia growled, "I'm going to give everyone a piece of my mind, especially that b***h Altmann and that b***h Cindy." "Don't take any action," she repeated soothingly.
"I'll ask your brother and father to take care of them.
They ought to be aware that you are the Moon Crest Pack's incoming Alpha.
I didn't need anyone to defend me, but let's see if they still dare to say nasty things about you. Olivia was upset and didn't seem to hear me when I told her to make everything right.
"Olivia!" She came to her senses when I gave her a sharp call.
"I'm furious," she exclaimed, taking a seat once more. "How are you so calm?"
"Don't worry, I have already prepared a 'gift' for the Red Claw Pack and Altmann," I laughed.
"A present? What present will you be giving them? What actions will you take against him? Tell me," she eagerly enquired.
Chelsy's perspective
Observing her excitement, I laughed.
I smirked and said, "You'll know when the time comes."
"Oh please, Char, hurry up. Your best friend is me. "It would be great if you could share with me the 'gift' you have prepared for them," she attempted to ask, but I remained unresponsive.
"Don't worry, it's going to be a big 'gift," I grinned once more, speculating about their possible reactions.
"You won't tell me, then? You are so awful," she pouted and grumbled.
I gave her a head pat while laughing.
Olivia wasn't like me at all. She was small, like a child, with big innocent eyes, whereas I was tall and thin.
But don't let her outward appearance fool you. She was a strong she-wolf and impulsive. She could use her bare fist to smash a hole in a wall. When she was upset, even I dared not come close to her.
"All right, so... Right now, breaking my mate-bond with Altmann is crucial; I changed the topic. "Do you know how to do it?" he asked. I didn't know how to respond. Should I turn him down? However, it wouldn't break the mate bond. It would be similar to any other rejection.
Are you sure you want to sever the matebond, Char?
It will not be like a typical rejection," she remarked thoughtfully.” I know," she firmly said. "Altmann, the Alpha of the Moon Crest Pack, is not important to me." Why should I be interested in them? I will have even greater strength than Altmann and his pack.
She looked closely at me as if to see if I was still unsure, but I was certain.
She sighed once she realised how determined I was to finish it.
"So, do you know how to do it?" I questioned her once more.
Despite her hesitation, she eventually nodded. "I heard you need to pray to the Moon Goddess together with Altmann and reject each other at the same time. "
"That seems simple," I remarked breezily.
She murmured, looking at me dejectedly, "Char... The breaking of matebond might break your soul and Lexi."
