CHAPTER FOUR

671 Words
As I pace my room, I can't help but think aloud. How can anyone expect me, a lowly omega, to win trials? I've never even had any training! I'm not a warrior, a track star, or a fighter in the least. This isn't happening. 'You can't think like that. You are strong and we are special. If you want to do this, I'm here with you, if you want to escape, I'm also with you. It's your decision.' "I love you, Monroe. I'd be lost without you. I don't want to run. I don't want to prove myself right. Let's meet with Luna and see what she has to say. We can decide from there." 'Let's do this!' --THE NEXT DAY-- I expect my sweaty palms on my jeans before entering the pack house. This is the first time I've ever been here, but it screams luxury. I walk through the double doors, and I'm greater with white and gold marble floors, a large sitting area with a fireplace, and two grand staircases. It's breathtaking, but I can't let my mind get clouded right now. I'm here to hear what Luna has to say in regards to my future, and I can't make any mistakes. 'Relax, we will be ok.' I smile and nod, straightening my back. I okay, I've got this! I hear a throat clear atop the banister, and I incline my head to see who it is. "Oh, hello, Beta Marcus." I say with a small wave, looking up at him. He tsks, "So this is the girl who thinks she has what it takes to be the next Luna. Well, I'm not looking at much, am I?" I swallow the lump in my throat and try not to let him see the tears welling up in my eyes. "Do not keep the Luna waiting, Girl, get your ass up here, and let's go!" He shouts at me, causing me to bolt up the staircase at lightening speed. Great, just great, I think to myself. 'Seems like all the men in this house have a stick up their ass if you ask me' Monroe says, and I have to stop myself from giggling at her remark. What would I do without this sassy wolf of mine? We enter what I would assume to be the Lunas office. "Luna." Beta Marcus says as he shoves me down into a chair. She looks up at me and immediately looks like she is sucking on a lemon. "I thought I told you to bring me the possible future Luna of this pack, what's this? It looks like a rat. A very fat rat." Luna says, still scrutinizing me. Beta Marcus chuckles," I have done as you ask. It is her." 'I've about had it with these people. Don't listen to them, Amara. They will regret treating you like this!' "It's only making me want to prove to them I'm not what they think." I tell Monroe. I am fuming with rage, but I won't let it show. I've never been so disrespected. "Very well, you may leave, Beta." She days, never taking her eyes off me. As he shuts the door behind him, the Luna stands up and rounds the desk. "So, you're the one the mood goddess has chosen for my son. We shall see about that. I'm assuming he's told you about the trials, then?" "Yes, Luna, he has, and I'm ready to face them head-on." She looks at me, surprised for a moment as if she's studying me. "Very well. There will be three trials you must pass in order to officially become the future Luna, and worthy of my son. These will not be easy tasks. You will get injured, and you might even die. Do you accept these terms?" "Yes." I day with a nod, never taking my eyes from hers. "The trials will get increasingly harder as you go on. I need time to prepare, go home, and get some rest. Tomorrow, your trials begin."
