CHAPTER TWO

"Running away, mate?" He says in an angry tone. I try to swallow the lump in my throat as I stare into his storming eyes. I open my mouth to say something, but he speaks before I get the chance. "Choose your words wisely, little mate. I am not one to be trifled with." His sneer nearly knocks me off my feet. 'Be cautious, Amara.. something about him seems.. off.' Monroe says in my head "I thought you said he would hurt us!" 'I was being optimistic.' I scoff at her and realize I still have yet to reply, and by the look on his face, I can tell he's getting more and more agitated. "I - I was surprised. I didn't realize you were back from training yet. How are you, alpha?" I ask with my neck bared, showing him total submission to not piss him off further. He nods, " I finished early and came back yesterday. Although I don't think I need to explain myself to you. I find it rather odd, you see, most females would leap at the chance to be my mate, and yet you run away. What is your name, little wolf?" My heart thumps in my chest, "My name is Amara Risengaurd, Alpha." I say, not looking up at him. He roughly grabs my chin to make me look him in the eyes, his eyes softening ever so slightly, but only just. "As future Future luna of this pack, you should not be running away from me. You should be demanding respect from all around you, not being a coward. However, I'll let this small laps of judgment go for now, but do not displease me again. I blink up at him. I have no idea what to say. I didn't mean to run away from him, I was just in shock. Am I really good enough to be the future Luna of this pack? He sure doesn't seem like he believes that, and I definitely don't believe that I am. it's not something I've ever wanted, but I guess that might have to change unless he rejects me first. 'Don't think things like that, Amara, know your worth.' Monroe scolds me "Go on a date with me." A statement, not a question, broke me out of my thoughts. Amusement shone through his face as he looked at my shocked one. I licked my now terribly dry lips. "Okay." I said in nothing more than a mere whisper, but by the smile on his face, I knew he heard me. "I'll pick you up at 7pm sharp. What's your address?" I took out a piece of paper and jotted down my address, and handed it to him. He looked up at me with an adorable side smile. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all. "Alright, 7 pm be ready. Now get to class. The future luna must set a good example for the rest of the pack. He looks me up and down once more before he walks off in the opposite direction. with my head spinning and my thoughts whirling, I turn to head to my next class, just as the first bell rings. What a day this is turning out to be! 'What a day indeed.' Monroe chimes in.
