Chapter 26 - Memories

1275 Words
***Jessica’s POV*** I forgot about their sorry excuse for a beta. Hopefully, he’s not dead. We needed him for information, although I plan on slowly killing him after we get it. I will ensure it takes days, if not weeks before he dies. My heart dropped to my ass when I entered the cottage and found it empty. “Sh*t sh*t. How the f**k did he escape?” Acting upon instinct, I slowed my breathing and stopped moving. I strained my ears, trying to listen for anyone in the area. My phone chimed, making me practically jump out of my skin. *Text message conversation* Amber: Hey, can you come by the packhouse? It’s kind of important. Jessica: Hey, girly! Sure, I’m actually in the area. See you in a little while :) Amber: Jessica, what are you doing? Please don’t get into trouble. Jessica: Wha- How dare you! Accuse me of misbehaving. I am so offended! When have I ever misbehaved? Amber: ….. Amber: So what about when you were sleeping with that football player, and when he threatened to expose you sent him a video of his girlfriend sleeping with his best friend? Or when that football player didn’t believe you when you said his girlfriend was cheating on him, so you showed him a video of you giving his girlfriend's head? Jessica: Ew, don’t remind me! She tasted like a*s water and smelt like stale newports. But b*tch, stop exposing me! Lol Jessica: But see you soon I shoved my phone into my back pocket when my eyes landed on a note on the ground. I picked it up and felt my heart fall into my a*s. It was a picture of my adoptive mom, one of the few pure-bred lycans alive, and something was written on the back. “Give me Amber, and I’ll tell you where your biological mom is.” My lycan began pacing in the back of my mind. Is there a possibility that my mom is alive after all these years? I mean, lycans are practically immortal, but they said she died in a rogue attack. Wait, lycans are skilled fighters and are more powerful than wolves. So that doesn’t make any sense. “Girl, this math ain’t mathin.” I mentally facepalmed. She seldom is serious. Stuffing it in my pocket, I took off in a sprint. This wasn’t something I could let go of or push to the back burner. While running, the repulsive smell of witches hits my nose, causing me to slow down to a jog. ***Blair’s POV*** I’m trying to open my eyes, but it feels as if something is stopping me from doing so. “Blair, are you sure you want your baby?” Was this the moon goddess speaking to me again? “Yes, Yes, yes! I would do anything to have my baby back!” Before I finish the sentence, I’m inflicted with a searing pain in my head. It feels like someone is hitting my head with a hammer while ripping at my brain. All I can hear is someone screaming. It takes me a moment to realize that I’m the one screaming. But as fast as the pain started, it left as fast. It was followed by the soft cries of a baby. My eyes sprang open when I felt someone laying a child on me. My sweet baby was wrapped in a blanket like a little burrito baby in my arms. “Brianna, you see our pup?” I waited for my wolf to reply, but all I received was silence. That’s when I noticed that I couldn’t sense her. “Wh..what did you do to my wolf?” Tears started to well up in my eyes as the reality that my wolf was no longer with me set in. “D*mnit! Tell me what you did to my wolf!” I started screaming at her as heart-wrenching sobs escaped my lips. “I’m surprised you care for this baby.” The voice wasn’t my wolf nor the moon goddess. I haven’t heard this one before. It sounded condescending and judgemental. “Who are you? What gives you the right to judge me when I don’t even know you.” Suddenly it broke out into a maniacal laugh, almost cackling. “So you’ve forgotten about the baby you killed? Please let me remind you.” everything goes black before I’m standing looking at my younger self. ***Flashback*** I’m standing in my bathroom shaking. My eyes have to be playing tricks on me. “I can’t be pregnant, especially by that sorry excuse for an omega.” I mumbled this to myself. It hit me like a ton of bricks. I had hooked up with this omega, and he got me pregnant, but I had an ab*rtion because the time frame didn’t match with when my mate had rejected me. Closing my eyes, I just wanted to forget it again. Watching this was opening up old wounds. “Let me show you what would’ve happened if you hadn’t gotten that ab*rtion.” With the snap of her fingers, I was in front of this house, I’d seen it before, but I can’t recall when. The sound of a child laughing is heard from the back of the house. I slowly walked towards the back and froze in my tracks when I found the source of the laughter. It was a little girl, probably 3 or 4 years old. She had my platinum blonde hair and his emerald green eyes. Her face had a massive grin as she squealed with joy. Finally, mustered up the courage, I kept walking and saw an older version of me with that same omega’s arms wrapped around my waist, holding a baby bump. Body-shaking sobs escaped me as the reality of the life I could’ve had settled in. “I’m so sorry. I promise to make it right with this one.” I couldn’t control my sobs as it became more apparent that my hunger for status robbed me of what I secretly wanted; a family of my own. **End of Flashback*** *still Blair’s POV* I jolt awake, and searching my surrounding, I notice that I’m still at the dark witch’s house. Wait! Where’s my baby? I felt her lay her on my chest. Frantically I began searching for my baby but was interrupted by someone clearing their throat. “Well, it’s good to see you’re awake.” The witch is standing across the room, stirring her tea. “Cut the sh*t! Where’s my baby?! What did you do to her?” “Oh dear, you know black magic is permanent, right? There’s no way to get your baby back. It’s gone forever. But thank you for offering me anything because I now have this!” While saying that, she pulled an oval-shaped gem out of her pocket. “Wh….what I…is that?” I have a bad feeling about this. She started laughing again, and it sent shivers down my spine. “Oh, why, it’s your wolf, sweetie. I’m going to enjoy playing with it. Thank you for your generous gift.” Any color that I had on my face was officially gone. My wolf was trapped in that f*cking rock. I got ready to charge and attack when she snapped her fingers, freezing me in place. “Now, let’s not do something we’d regret. You see if I drop this and it breaks? Your wolf is gone for good. I can give it back to you, but first I need something from you. I want the missing lycan princess.”
