Chapter 5 - Not all surprises are good

***Amber's POV***

I was admiring my pearly white paws when I heard a twig snap. I whipped my head in that direction, and I could barely make out the shape of a giant wolf. Fear instantly took over my body, and I took off in a sprint. I don't know where I'm going, but all that mattered was that I get away from whoever that was. I don't know how fast I'm running until something stops me in my tracks. I feel something heavy slam into my side, sending me flying across the ground. I looked up, and I felt a shiver go down my spine.

The wolf that tackled me was massive and had dark black fur. It started to circle me, bearing its teeth at me. It gave off an aura of authority. I started shaking and tucked my tail between my legs. It took all of my courage to remove my eyes from the ground, and that's when we locked eyes. There was something familiar about the wolf's eyes, but I couldn't tell what was familiar about them. I watched the wolf become a man. He was naked and started walking towards me. He had the body of a Greek god. My eyes traveled down his toned and muscular body and didn't stop until I saw his c*ck. I must've been staring because he had a smirk on his face.

I diverted my eyes to the ground."Like what you see?" The sound of his voice put me at ease. I guess me looking away from him was funny because he burst out laughing. I released a growl which seemed to make him laugh more. When he finally stopped laughing, I looked up at him. He had a confused look on his face. I didn't know what to do. How long am I going to be like this?

Suddenly I heard loud thudding noise. The appearance of three more wolves followed it. One of them was around the same size as the large black one. It had black fur also, but the eyes were different. The next wolf was a golden brown wolf that was visibly smaller than the previous two, and the last one was a dirty blond color. The golden brown wolf became an older woman. She quickly went behind a tree and came out fully clothed. "Ryder, why are you still naked? Here wear these." While saying that, she threw a pair of shorts at him.

"She's probably scared, and you being naked doesn't help." She turned to me. "Amber, you haven't met me yet, but I'm Marie, the current luna of the pack." She had an angelic voice and tenderness about her. For some reason, Jade trusted her. "Amber, is this your first shift?" She was looking into my eyes, and that's when I noticed she had the same eyes as Ryder. Since I couldn't talk, I nodded my head. Her eyes seemed to have glazed over, and it seemed like the wolves behind her eyes did the same.

The other two wolves took off, running in the direction they came, leaving just the three of us. "Ryder, you too. When she shifts back into her human form, she's going to be naked. Bring her some clothes. We aren't going anywhere." Suddenly everything started to make sense to me. His name, the eyes, and the voice...... "Amber, it's time I give you back control." It took me a moment to realize that it wasn't me in control. I was merely watching Jade take use of our body while in wolf form. I started to feel this odd feeling, like my bones were moving on their own, and everything was changing. The ground beneath me began to feel wet, and I started shivering. I felt a pit forming in my stomach. Was I shifting back? I don't understand!? How am I supposed to control this? I started to feel tired and weak. Was shift supposed to do that to me? Everything began to spin until everything went dark.

***Ryder's POV***

After watching her eye f**k me, I mind-linked my parents. I have never had to help a wolf shift, and I'm not sure if Jake would be able to control himself if he saw her naked. The sound of paws thudding against the ground soon flooded my eardrums. My parents and dad's beta emerged from the dense forest in their wolf forms. My mom disappears behind a tree and returns fully clothed. "Why are you still naked?" Of course, she would lecture me about my nakedness in front of my mate. "Here, take these." She threw a pair of shorts at me while saying that. Her eyes glazed over, so did my dad and his beta's.

My focus quickly returned to Amber. I couldn't smell fear. An unknown aroma was radiating from her. My attention was brought back to my parents, and the current beta, both my father and his beta turned around and left. "Ryder, you too. When she shifts back into her human form, she's going to be naked. Bring her some clothes. We aren't going anywhere." I was going to leave, but my wolf wouldn't let me. "We must stay with our mate." was all he said to me. "Jake, she's with our luna. She's in safe hands." I felt him trying to surface and take control, and it became a battle of wills. That's when we noticed that Amber had shifted back to her human form without the help of anyone else. I looked over at my mom, and she looked equally as confused. Typically after someone's first shift, they need help shifting back. Sometimes even alphas need the help. Although, usually, your mate helps you through your shift. So why was my mom so adamant about assisting Amber shift? I was pulled from my thoughts when Amber suddenly fainted. Using my enhanced speed I was able to catch her before she hit the ground. The feeling of her soft, warm, and creamy breast touching my bare chest gave me an e.rection.

***Unknown POV***

I watched as Ryder chased Amber's wolf down. He's blinded by rage right now, maybe he'll kill her. Which will make my job easier and it'll be less blood on my hands. The thought of that brought a smile to my face but only for a moment. That was when I realized that he figured out who the white wolf was. Oh s*it, the look in his eyes! How is he already in love with her and he barely knows the b*tch! I began to back away slowly when I hit a hard chest before I can turn around I feel a needle go into my neck and then everything went black.
