Chapter 2

As we entered the room, I immediately noticed the commotion—but in a good way, I guess. Everyone was busy with their own groups, and here I was, standing in front, unnoticed. "Hey, everyone! Requesting for your attention!" Cas said loudly, clapping his hands. I rolled my eyes and thought to myself, Is this guy serious? "Tadaaa! We have a new classmate!" he proudly announced, as if he was presenting a gift. "Hey, everyone, don't be rude! Say hi to her!" he added, flashing a playful smile. "Who's that girl, Cas?" a tall boy with blonde hair and a foreigner's face asked. "She's our new classmate, bro! And guess what? She's already my friend!" Cas replied, grinning like a happy child. I raised an eyebrow. What is he talking about? "Who's that girl, Cas?" the blonde boy asked again. "She's our new classmate, bro! And guess what? She's already my friend!" Cas proudly announced. I shook my head. This guy is something else. The blonde boy looked at me and asked, "What's your name?" I hesitated for a moment before answering, "Yurie." "Yurie! That's a cool name!" Cas exclaimed. I smiled politely. "But I like 'Ate Yurie' better. It suits you!" Cas added, winking at me. I chuckled. This guy is relentless. Before I could respond, the boy sitting to my right spoke up. "Cas, you're being loud again." He was the one wearing earphones earlier, and I noticed he was kind of cute. "Sorry, Aiden!" Cas replied, but it was clear he wasn't sorry at all. "I'm not your ate," I corrected Cas. Aiden looked at me, but quickly turned back to face the front, pretending he hadn't heard anything. I wondered why I felt a bit curious about him. Cas, on the other hand, didn't seem offended by my correction. "Okay, ate Yurie. The important thing is we're close now!" I smiled wryly. This guy is going to be a handful. Just then, a girl with long hair walked into the classroom. She seemed confident, and it was clear she thought highly of herself. Some of our classmates immediately approached her, treating her like royalty. "Look who's here," Cas whispered to me. "Amanda. She's the queen bee of our classroom. Be careful around her," he warned. I raised an eyebrow. Why? But before Cas could answer, Amanda caught my eye. I smiled slightly, but she didn't return the smile. Instead, she scanned me from head to toe before turning back to her friends. It seemed I had a challenge coming my way. As the class went on, I noticed that our group was a bit rowdy. It wasn't the typical classroom where everyone was quiet during lectures. Here, even during lessons, there were whispers, paper exchanges, and some students who just continued doing their own thing. "What's your schedule after class, Ate Yurie?" Cas asked. "Why?" I replied hesitantly. "Let's hang out in the cafeteria! I'll treat you!" "Why are you treating me?" "Welcome gift! Of course, as your new best friend—" "We're not best friends yet," I cut him off. Cas grinned. "Not yet." I chuckled. I had to admit, I was starting to enjoy his company, even if he could be annoying at times. Later, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was Aiden. "Do you have an extra ballpen?" he asked, his face expressionless. I was taken aback, but I quickly rummaged through my bag. "Yes, here." He took it and nodded in thanks before returning to what he was doing. Cas looked at me with wide eyes, as if thinking of something mischievous. "What?" I asked. "Nothing!" But it was clear he was hiding something. After class, Cas took me
