XAVIER'S POV She was impossible. That was the only word for her. Melissa Brown was the most stubborn, sarcastic, unbothered person I had ever met in my life. I tossed my keys on the counter as I stepped into my apartment and let out a long breath. My bag slid off my shoulder and hit the floor with a heavy thump. The shoot had only lasted a couple of hours, but somehow it felt like I’d gone three rounds in the ring with someone who didn’t even lift a finger. She didn’t even try to be polite. Every eye roll. Every dry comment. Every glare from across the room. And she still managed to look good doing it. It was annoying. And weirdly magnetic. I ran a hand through my hair, pulled off my sweatshirt, and flopped onto the couch. My head hit the pillow and I let my legs dangle off the edge.
