ARRIVAL IN ACAPULCO

The plane had barely taken off when Min-Ho completely shut himself off from everyone around him. For the men forced to accompany him on this mission, the atmosphere inside the jet felt unbearably heavy. The guy’s presence alone was enough to crush people, and his icy stare only made it worse. Honestly, they wondered if the women obsessed with him had any common sense at all. Or maybe it was just his face that attracted them. Since they didn’t have to spend every day around him, they probably didn’t care about the rest. They were flying on a private jet provided by the Hwasan clan leader, but Min-Ho was the only one sitting comfortably. The others had practically squeezed themselves into a corner together. If they hadn’t trusted the aircraft, they might have thought the jet had tilted from all their weight on one side. Still, none of it seemed to matter to Min-Ho. He didn’t look at them. He didn’t speak to them either. Truthfully, he barely spoke to anyone unless the clan leader directly addressed him. Most of the time, he stayed completely silent, and the others assumed that was part of his training too. Min-Ho, meanwhile, couldn’t care less what they said about him. He could hear every word from where he sat. They weren’t exactly trying to be quiet. But he ignored it. A bad reputation had its advantages. It kept people away from him. It also let him make decisions without involving others. As cold as he appeared, the last thing he wanted was to drag innocent people into his business. And by innocent, he meant people completely unrelated to organized crime. He lowered his gaze and focused on the mission ahead. His assignment was simple: meet this Jefe and satisfy her. That wasn’t the problem. She was already interested in him. The real issue was the disgust he felt every time he had to use his body this way. He sighed and continued reading through the information he’d been given. Titania. That was her code name. She had started from nothing as a small-time drug dealer in the slums of Acapulco. Over time, she earned the respect of her superiors, climbed the ranks, and eventually became the Jefe of an entire territory. It was the first time a woman had ever reached that level of power. Titania became famous for her ruthless and bloodthirsty nature. She hadn’t hesitated to put a bullet in the head of the mentor who once protected her before taking over his territory for herself. Since then, her ambition had only grown. Now she was considered one of the most powerful godfathers in the global underworld. A living legend. Under normal circumstances, Min-Ho probably would have felt honored that someone like her even knew who he was. But whatever admiration he might have had disappeared the moment she started treating him like a piece of meat too. He kept reading through the files while thinking about the clan leader. He had to admit the old man was impressive. Infiltrating the territory of a major South American cartel figure and gathering this much information wasn’t easy. Unless, of course, Titania had intentionally allowed it all to happen so she could get her hands on him. Min-Ho shook his head. There was no point dwelling on it. Whether it was part of some elaborate setup or proof of the clan leader’s powerful network, it didn’t matter. He would do what he came to do. Thinking about the clan leader, Min-Ho allowed himself one of the rare smiles no one ever got to see. The old man was serious about turning Hwasan into an international organization. As for Min-Ho, he didn’t care one way or another. All he knew how to do, all he had ever been taught to do, was obey orders. What he personally thought about the clan leader’s ambitions meant nothing. In truth, he didn’t think about them at all. He rested a hand against his cheek and stared out the window after memorizing everything he needed for the mission. According to the briefing, Titania’s men would meet him as soon as he landed and escort him to her. The whole thing struck him as reckless. Unless, once again, it was part of a larger plan. She was willingly allowing a member of another criminal organization into her territory, someone who could become a future rival. Either she underestimated Hwasan, or she believed her own power was enough to deal with them if necessary. That level of confidence almost earned his respect. Min-Ho sighed and finally decided to rest. He had no idea what awaited him in Acapulco, and women like Titania were often unpredictable. One wrong move and he could easily lose his head. He closed his eyes. Several hours later, they arrived in Acapulco, the most dangerous city in the country. As soon as Min-Ho stepped off the plane, he saw a line of luxury vehicles waiting for them. The other Hwasan members whistled in surprise at the sight. “Damn, that lady really went all out,” one of them said while the others nodded. “She must be dying to get a ride from that demon,” another joked before immediately taking an elbow to the ribs. “Shut up, i***t,” his companion hissed. “Don’t say that so loud. Whether it’s that monster or this woman’s people, you don’t want to provoke either side.” They were escorted toward the vehicles. Just as Min-Ho expected, he was separated from the others and guided alone toward a different car. “Titania asked me to take you to one of her clubs in the city,” the driver explained. “She has business to handle and apologizes for not meeting you personally. Until she returns, we’ll make sure you’re well taken care of. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to ask.” The man spoke in a strangely flat tone. Min-Ho licked his lips slightly. This man was interesting. At first glance, he seemed ordinary. But underneath that calm exterior was something dangerous. What stood out most was the aura surrounding him. Min-Ho had rarely dealt with foreign gangsters before, but this one was different from the tattoo-covered, heavily built men back home. And despite his appearance, he was dangerous. A thrill stirred inside Min-Ho. He wanted to fight him. He wanted to test him and see what kind of man he really was. Min-Ho looked away, suppressing the violent urge rising inside him. It felt like a waste to meet someone like this under such circumstances. Maybe I’ll get the chance to fight him soon, he thought. He genuinely hoped so. The car eventually arrived in one of the city’s trendiest nightlife districts. Teenagers crowded the streets outside the clubs. Since it was the weekend, they had all come out to dance and party, and nobody seemed to care about their age. Apparently, age meant very little in this city. Min-Ho kept watching the streets until his eyes landed on a particular teenage girl he found especially beautiful. “What a pretty one,” he murmured with little interest as the car finally stopped in front of the club.
