Darko Lucic felt as if he had most of the pieces of the puzzle before him, but he was having trouble making it all fit to see the big picture.
He felt as if the dog killings were just the tip of the iceberg here. He knew that he had nothing on Lurgan. There was no jury that would look crooked at a man who, as he clearly indicated, may have never owned a dog in his life. It was the whole Serbian thing that was jerking his own chain. Steve knowing Jana, who was suddenly hooked up with Evilenko by way of Ljubica, had a funny smell to it. He knew that Evilenko was the CEO of HPS, which was one of the major companies in the area where the runaway kids were murdered in the Catskills. The Catskill PD had put out a red alert throughout the vicinity and met with local business owners
