Chapter 13When Roland boarded the Vacation Station for the Mechanical Planet, he realized his palms were sweating. He wasn’t hot. He didn’t have a fever like Martha did, which he had already checked a half dozen times over while on the ship itself. He didn’t have a cold, and he wasn’t having an allergic reaction, or any of the other number of excuses that came to his mind for why his palms were sweating so profusely. He tried to forget about it, but when he stepped off onto the new atmosphere, his body reacted. There were so many different types of metals and elements on this planet. Each surface he touched left his handprint, marking him as abnormally hot, and causing the salt from his skin to mix in with the new chemicals.
