FORCED MARRIAGE

CHAPTER ONE

Once upon a time at xikundu village there was a 16 years girl her name was Nyeleti Mthombeni . Nyeleti was intelligent and brave.Nyeleti lived with her Mother Modjadji and her two siblings.Modjadji was a single parent because her husband passed away.After Nyeleti's father 's death ,situation was very difficult because the person who supposed to support them was no more.Modjadji took a decision to take Nyeleti to live with her grandparents.Nyeleti was not happy about the decision that her mother made , because she knew very well that as she is going to stay with her grandparents she will not succeed in her goals.Anyway Nyeleti did not have power to reject her mother's decision.

She had no choice,then the time arrived for her to go and stay with her grandparents.she woke up early in the morning and adjust herself and fold her clothes and put in the bag ,by that time there was a lack of transports,so she decided to hit the road because her grandparents 's compound was not far away from her home.She arrived guardedly but tardy.Her grandparents welcome her with tranquility and love.

Her grandparents was jubilant when they saw their grandchild who have grown to a gorgeous girl,but that was not the same to Nyeleti,because she knew that staying with her grandparents will ruin her life.The next day her grandmother woke her up early in the morning and tell her to start the house chores.She was furious because she doesn't use to woke up early,however she didn't repudiated her grandmother 's request for her to do house chores.

After that she started to wash dishes,sweep the compound,clean the houses and her last work was to cook and that was difficult for her to do all house chores alone.She met new friends because she was a friendly person and kind too.When school holidays end Nyeleti was so excited to go to a new school and meet new people. Then when the day of school arrive she woke up in the morning and prepare herself she was extremely happy and excited.After 30 minutes she was done preparing .Then she hit the road to school the school was little bit far from the house.

By the time when Nyeleti was at school,her grandparents started to discuss about her future.They finally concluded that Nyeleti have to get married to a rich old man who was searching for a wife in the village.

When Nyeleti come back her grandparents decided to sit down with her and tell her what they have concluded about her future.When they finish to tell immediately Nyeleti started crying and said "you don't have right to tell me what to do about my future in fact I am not going to marry a person who suit to be my father, I'm about to turn 17 years that won't happen I'm done" Nyeleti 's grandparents was so shocked about Nyeleti 's anger and stubbornness. Then after that they let her go to take some nap and proceed the issue when she wakes up or tomorrow because she was furious.

The next day Nyeleti woke up and prepare herself to go to school like other days of school pretending like all was well between her and her grandparents.When she was about to start traveling to school,her grandmother told her that you are not going to school because you are a girl your work is to be a house wife and bare children.Nyeleti was shocked and said "but why grandmother now I'm not married and I'm not going to marry I'm dedicated to my school work". Her grandmother told her that you must practice to be a house wife from today so that u can become perfect .

Nyeleti was tired of arguing with them then she returned back to the house and

removed school uniform.Nyeleti stole her grandmother's phone and called her mother privately asked for a help but her mother thought that it's was a good idea for her to get married to that rich Old man to assist her siblings financially, because her mother don't have money to buy her siblings school uniforms .

In this way Nyeleti was out of the plan because her mother was a last person to help her.The next day her grandparents was invited to the meeting by the rich old man to discuss about agreement of marrying Nyeleti. While the were discussing grandmother asked the old man that "Nyeleti turn 17 years by the end of this month so we won't allow you to marry her at the age of 17 years why don't you wait for her to turn 18 years"but the old man was not happy about what grandmother said even grandfather was not happy.The old man responded that "is too far if u don't want me to marry your granddaughter,I Will search other girls there are many beautiful girls in the village like your granddaughter and remember if I marry your granddaughter I will give you 6 cows and one million Rand". When they hear about 6

cows and one million Rand immediately they agreed to bring Nyeleti by tomorrow morning.

The old man was very happy to hear that her wife will be home tomorrow morning.The next day grandparents took Nyeleti to the old man 's house as they agreed,but the sadness thing is that old man didn't tell them that Nyeleti was going to be a 5th wife.

One year after Nyeleti 's marriage, Nyeleti was exhausted with the marriage and the wives of old man use to bully her because she was very young and she don't deserve to be their sister wife ,she suite to be their daughter.

Suddenly she decided to take a deficient decision .The decision was unacceptable but she didn't have a choice, because she was in a helplessness situation.Nyeleti went to the forest to find a poison tree called 'Lawn care plus'to poison her husband and demise his life .When she returned from the forest she found her husband sitting under the tree and her sister wives children playing ,the sister wives were not around.

When Nyeleti returned she was carrying firewood to pretend as if she went to the forest to carry fire wood .As her sisters wives were not around she immediately went to the kitchen and boil Poison tree before sisters wives return.

Immediately after boiling she took traditional beer(umqomboti)and mixed it with a boiled water of 'lawn care plus ' after that she went under the tree where her husband sitting at and gave him poisoned traditional beer.

After the Old man drank the whole cup of traditional beer he felt dizzy and went to sleep.

When the sun set the sister wives returned and they didn't noticed that their husband didn't came to eat dinner that evening.

The fourth wife noticed it and went to her husband 's house to check if he was okay but she was afraid because the old man was cruel and aggressive.

When she entered the house and asked him that "why don't you want to eat dinner today "as the man was too aggressive told his fourth wife to get out of his house before he chop her body into a pieces and burn it into ashes.

The old man thought that he was drunk he was not suspecting that the traditional beer have been poisoned.

The next morning the weather was good was glorious and warm as a sunbeam.The first wife went to her husband 's house to check her husband when she arrived, she called her husband and when she went closer to where her husband were sleeping,she noticed that he passed away. she screamed like a child and called for a help.People was crowding like wave of the oceans to see why she was screaming.

Honestly Nyeleti was not feeling well about what she has done to her husband. They arranged the funeral, by the end of the week the funeral was done . Nyeleti told the elders (her husband's sisters) that she is returning back home, but the elders said that"our late brother paid a pride price (lobola) so u have to stay for almost a year mourning him like your sister wives" Nyeleti responded them that I don't have a child with your late brother so why must I stay here . By that night Nyeleti pack all her things and ranaway.when they wake up in the morning and went to her house to give her mourning clothes they found that Nyeleti was no where to be found.

They even started suspecting that Nyeleti was the one who killed the old man .They checked her at her grandparents 's place and her mother's place but they didn't find her .Now Nyeleti took a bad decisions because of her grandparents and her mother.Her grandparents and her mother felt bad because they caused many difficulties in Nyeleti 's life. They don't even know where would they find her.
