Joseph briefly paused when he saw me awake. However, once he adjusted, he shook his head and approached my seat.
“It's nothing. He just wanted to talk about the company. I have a lot on my plate, but I don't want to leave you here, as I don't want you to be alone. Why did you wake up, by the way? Is it because I wasn't here with you?”
He asked a series of questions. It's clear he's changing the topic. My forehead still furrowed, and I couldn't shake off my unease from what he said.
“Are you sure it's about the company? It seems like you're discussing something else.”
“Yeah, don't worry. It's really about the company. It's just that there are many issues now because I'm often not there. So, I reassure my secretary and the department heads that I'll take care of it. That's all.”
