Something was hitting my face, and I soon realized it wasn't hurting me. It was unexpectedly warm and comforting, a feeling of safety and comfort had washed over me like a blanket. For the first time in my life, I felt cared for and protected, almost as if nothing bad could happen while this sensation lingered. I slowly open my eyes and a bright, piercing light hits my face. It was the early morning sun rays, beaming through the window of the bedroom. My eyes begin to water from the sudden brightness and I blink several times to adjust them to my surroundings.
